help!!!! i think i damaged my power supply for outside ac unit.

Good morning. I was chopping weeds today around my goodman outside air conditioning unit when I barely nicked the gray cord connecting to the unit and electrical box with a machete. Can you tell me what I need to do? I think it was the power cord cuz it sparked for a second and now the fan doesn't work. If someone wants to exchange emails, let me know, I have great pics of the problem. I don't think I need a new unit like some AC repair guy will probably try to sell me. I need to know what the repair guy is going to say before he comes. Please help, thanks.

first I would see if your breaker circuit tripped. If tripped, do not reset. Just let HVAC tech know.

If as described, should be a minor repair.

If you saw a spark, you might have popped the transformer located in the indoor unit. I would go inside, turn the fan switch on the thermostat from "Auto" to "On", wait a few minutes and see if your indoor fan comes on. The transformer drops the line voltage down to 24 volts to run things like the thermostat, relays & contactor and if it is burned up, nothing will come on.

You just shorted things out and might have a tripped breaker (fuse) and some damaged control parts at worst if your A/C was running fine before. Minor fix and no one should sell you a new unit just because of this.
