Greenhouse natural gas heater quit working

Hi

In greenhouse we have natural gas heater. It stopped working today for some reason (won't run). Pilot light is still on but the main burners do not light. Does thermocouple fail quickly? We had to bend the thermocouple a bit to get it in more direct flame when we first started using it (thr equipment has been sitting unused for 5-6 years). The fan, when it was working, would occassionally cycle on and off when we started using it, but we didn't notice it lately and we have been using it for almost two months now.
