Convection Heaters as Sole Heat Source?

I'm finishing my basement, and would really love to get rid of the heating ducts to gain a little headroom. I have an electric forced air furnace (no gas on property).

I got a number of quotes on ductless heat pumps, but the cost just seemed too high given the lifespan of the system (10-12 years, by some estimates).

So, my only other option to get rid of the ducts would be to go with baseboards, which I'd really rather not, or convection wall panel heaters in each room.

Does anyone have experience or advice on using convection panel heaters as the sole heat source in an older (1950s) house?
