In live Dallas area where our summers June-August temps can average 100 degrees daily.

I am in the process of replacing my existing Carrier 5 ton downstairs and 3.5 ton upstairs r22 units which are 17 years old. My home is split level and is approx 3400 square feet with 18 foot ceilings in the family room with average window sized at 48x72. A gas furnace is installed.

I recently received proposals from three different vendors, two recommending American Standard system and one for the Carrier system to replace the outside units, inside furnace and coils, drain pans, install new metal return plenums, safety switches and whips/disconnects. The quotes vary between $10k-$13k and includes adjusting existing duct work to balance airflow in rooms currently hard to cool and heat.

I would like your thoughts/suggestions/feedback regarding three proposals I recently received to determine which is best meets based on our climate and the size of my home.
