Carrier heat pump Comfort v. Performance

| Can anyone tell me if there is a meaningful difference between the Comfort line and Performance line on the Carrier outdoor heat pump units in terms of reliability and durability? |

| the performance line is being phased out. The comfort series will remain. Right now your carrier dealer, as long as he's a CFAD dealer, ought to be able to get the performance series at the same price as the comfort, due to it being phased out. If I were you, I'd go with the performance series. It is a quieter machine and has a few more bells and whistles. |

| Thanks, I checked with my HVAC guy and he's not sure the Performance units in my needed size are available in my market. My current system is 25 years old so hopefully, even a new unit in the Comfort line would be quieter than what I have now. |

| Sorry to bump such an old thread but I just got a quote for a Carrier Performance Heat Pump. Are they still being phased out? |

| Ha ha--you bet it will be quieter! We replaced a 30-year old carrier with a new unit, and the difference was amazing! From grinding caterwaul-type sounds to something a bit louder than a hum. Huge, comforting difference. |

| A 25HPA530H30 condenser matched with FVBNF002 air handler is a Performance 15 Puron: 29,000 btu cooling, 12.5 EER, 15 SEER, 29,000 btu heating at 47F, 8.7 HSPF, 17,800 btu heating at 17F. Those are solid numbers. ARI# 1125509. There is a 25HPA530A30 condenser that has 13 EER and 15.5 SEER when matched with the same air handler. ARI# 904012. Best to you. |
