carrier (bdp company) hvac stops blowing

| I have a BDP Company, division of Carrier furnace/air conditioner. After a time (varies from a few mins to a couple hours), the vents show virtually nothing blowing from them although the blower is still running. If we turn everything off for awhile and then turn it back on, everything works fine again for awhile, blowing very well. When it stops blowing through the vents, everything sounds the same in the furnace, the blower is blowing, etc. The thermostat has nothing to do with it as it happens regularly even when extremely hot or cold, furnace or air conditioner. It is as if something in the furnace is not letting the blower through to the vents. I have checked all the vents above. Is there something between the blower and the top of the furnace that closes and doesn't let the air through? What can I do to find the solution to this problem?
Thanks,
Jim M

Did you check the return side? Have you changed the filter of late?

IF you are mechanically adept and can easily get into the a/h the next time this happens visually (BE CAREFUL AS THERE ARE HIGH VOLTAGES - SHARP EDGES AND MOVING PARTS THAT CAN BITE!!) and see if the evap fan blade IS spinning in the blower housing. You really don't need to get into the unit just use a flashlight and shine it into the housing. IF not then either the fan motor is going bad - the run cap is bad or both are going bad. IF this isn't the case please report back with any additional info (in cooling mode when this happens, usually after ..., etc.) Hope this helps.. just my .02 good luck..

Did you ever get this resolved? I am having a very similar issue and cannot figure it out. Thanks in advance!

Did you ever solve this problem? I have seen clogged/very dirty evaporator coils that can freeze up fairly quickly. If not related to refrigeration, then maybe a flap of plenum insulation is loose and wreaking havoc. Gaining Clues as to where the problem actually is would be to note ALL the vents' characteristics when things are normal, then again when things get blocked, the results can tell you ALOT as to where and what the problem is... good luck
