Electric in-floor radiant can heat your entire house. A mini split heat pump might be less expensive to run, depending where you live. The mini split might also be less expensive to install as well. In-floor radiant might âÂÂfeelâ better though.

Zoning is possible with either system.

I have never heard of anyone doing a whole house with electric radiant heating. It would be very expensive to operate compared to the mini split or your current forced hot air system. I also question how well a radiant system would work on floors with carpets and hardwoods.

I think you will be better limiting you radiant to the Bathroom floors and maybe other high use areas. I was just speaking with a friend who has staple up radiant and she said it takes forever to warm up the place and then forever to cool it down. This is called "lead/lag" in the business.

I agree that you may need one of those special high torque electric meters if you go forward with this. I think you would quickly discover that while you like the heat, you just can't afford it. What are your electrical rates.

The mshp should d oa good job for you. I supplement mine with a gas fired Rinnai Energysaver and the combination is great. Net to the space, No duct losses and you will create a couple closets in space saving.
