Not cheap.same furnace is available from sister company AmStandard usually less expensive. Don't care for that stat. You want one that is a true two stage thermostat like HW VP IAQ. What are you doing if anything about AC?

What size XV95 furnace? Location matters also. I don't think the price is totally out of line but then again there is a 500 to 600 dollar difference between the smallest xv95 to the biggest.

Do you have an existing supply duct in your basement? Are you short on return? If no supply, and you have a non-power vented gas water heater there, you could be drawing exhaust/carbon monoxide into your household air with a basement return.

Thanks for all the feed back, I will try to answer all the above questions.

1. The furnace model is TVH2B080R9V I think it was around
43,000 BTU low fire and 74,000 high fire.
2. Location is N.W. Iowa
3. No existing return air in the basement. He suggested one
to help pull air off the floor in the finished half/family room to help to heat that room. Sure do not want to have problem with Carbon monoxide. The gas hot water heater is non-powered vent. And it sits close to the furnace.
