Installing humidifier

I wanted to install a humidifier to raise the humidity in the cold months. I chose a HE360A Honeywell. This unit mounts on the warm air duct. It has a hard grid inside that water trickles down and a blower behind it to blow the air into the duct. The problem I have is that the heat pump out is in the middle of the house and the air handler out T's into a right left main trunk line, its in the crawl space. Also the duct is round and the humidifier is for a square duct. So in order to cover both sides of the house I mounted it at the T of the air ducts, there is not enough room to mount it before the T.
So now the air blows directly into the humidifier pad. Im now beginning to think this was not a good choice. I would like some opinions. Thanks
