how to wire a limit switch to a wood furnace fan

We need to know how to wire the limit switch to the fan on a wood furnace. It is an older model. We need to know how to wire it

If the fan includes a low volt ( 12 to 30 volts ) control circuit.
Cut one low volt wire. Connect each cut end to one each switch wire. If everthing is 120v with no low volt circuit,cut white fan wire and connect same as above. Both ways do the same thing but interupting low voltage is always preferable when given a choice.
"FAN LIMIT SWITCH" normaly turns fuel off to prevent meltdown in the event blower motor fails. Is yours intended to shut off air to smother fire?

Thank you. We managed to located a diagram and Dad thinks he's got it right this time. Keep your fingers crossed. ha ha
