Hi,
I have a new to me home that we moved into a few months back. The previous owners installed an 2 ton XL20i Trane Heat Pump along with an American Standard 4TEE3C01A000AA Air Handler. They have it split into two zones, upstairs and downstairs using two VisionPRO 8000 Thermostats and a Honeywell HZ432 controlling the zones.
I'm wondering if there is a way to get the second stage to activate (larger heat pump compressor and higher air handler blower speed) with only one stage active or running? The amount of heat being discharged with only the first stage is minimal when only the downstairs zone is on.
For example, last evening it was 38.4 outside. Return air at the air handler was 68.5 and 78.7 coming out of the air handler. This was on stage one. When it's at stage two, the return was the same at 68.5 and the warm air coming out of the air handler was at 84. I never tested it with the aux heat on so I'm not sure what the 3rd stage would have put out.
Thanks in advance!
Craig
