Carrier or American Standard

I have narrowed my quest down to two contractors. Both have excellent ratings on the BBB. They both did a good job of evaluating our needs and were the only two to take a hard look at the cold air return and address it. One contractor suggested more cold air return in the living room and basement. The other more RA run to the hallway to help with the bedrooms and no RA in the basement. He said that during the summer with an open stairway he has seen this make an issue with pulling to much cold air from upstairs to the basement. Both are using 60,000 btu units with two stage heat and variable speed blowers. The American Standard dealer quoted me a 13 seer AC for 2200.00 and the Carrier a 16 seer fro what he said was his cost at 2100.00. I am not sure what coil either is using but am going to ask. Should I go with the one I feel the most comfortable with or is one brand better than the other. Both were almost identical price on the furnace and duct work.
