1920 gas firplace

I purchased my home 3 years ago and this fireplace was in the basement. The owner told me that it was in a home being torn down in detroit in the 50's and the installed it here. They said it was working but needed to be vented. Can anyone tell me anything about this gas fire place and where I would go to have it inspected and any restoration that might be needed?
