keystoker 90 coal stove burning erratically

i have a keystoker 90 and when i put the thermostat to 72 the thermostat on the side of the stove will go to around 450 degrees or so then it seems to go down to arounf 200 degrees without me touching the thermosat and the house get cold, im trying to fix this problem but i dont know what it could be?Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.
