Heat Pump Defrost & Electric Heat strips?

Noticed during a recent icy rain cold snap that my outside Heat Pump unit wasn't running & the inside air handler was just circulating cooler air.
Figured this was the defrost mode coming into action as we had a couple days of icy rain last week with tempos just below freezing.

What made me take notice was that the T-Stat showed it was 70 but a nearby standalone temp gauge showed it was 67 in the room.

So I looked everywhere on the t-stat to see if the Aux electric heat strips kicked on but could not find that setting or icon anywhere.
And as luck would have it, the outside unit kicked on & the house got warm again.

I verified in the t-stat's run history, that my aux heat & defrost were logged as running...but I get the sense (feel cold) that it isn't.

Some questions here:

1) Should I get a 'warm' air coming out of the vents if the HP is in defrost mode given that I have heat strips as aux/emergency heat?
2) Does the outside unit fan spin during defrost mode?
3) Is there a place on the my Trane 950 CL2 t-stat to see if the aux heat has cut on?
