Are you asking how you set up your Trade List, which is a link off of your Member Page? If so, just go to the bottom of any page here and click on the Member Pages link and then choose Edit Your Exchange Lists and go from there. If you think members mind clicking on My Page link to get to See my Trade List link, then you can just include it in the Optional Link URL box as described above....see your trade list linked below...simply ONE click. Do you have any idea how incredibly paranoid and dramatic you sound? No, I didn't "pick quite a few fights". Actually, just before the time you signed on as Jean Luc, there were a few others that were being complete jerks if challenged at all. A new person would ask a question and someone would suddenly belittle them for not doing some research first. Or someone would pose a suggestion and someone else would belittle that person for making what was perceived as an idiotic suggestion. One lady started belittling people for questioning LED technology and backed it up with a radish experiment. Problem is, she got really nasty to people for questioning her resources. That's the one that really brought me out of my shell and I got so fed up with these people ruining such a great forum that I started pushing back. Others wanted to be polite and wait until those people moved on. One person e-mailed me and asked why I suddenly started doing that as it seemed out of character. He's still on here occasionally if he wants to chime in. I came back after a few months of leave from the site for not being able to deal with some jerks without fighting back. Let's face it. It was shortly after you signed back up under the current name and I decided to stop signing in and having your and my arguments dominate the site. Especially since I noticed others were taking your lead and being jerks to new comers, too. Then I made an embarrassing mistake a couple of months ago. I saw hardclay (I think, maybe someone else) post something I misunderstood as being a jerk. That was totally my fault. I came in expecting jerks and steeled myself against it therefore becoming exactly what I had a problem with. Guess what. . . Grizzman put me in the right place with reason. (I'd like to point out that I also had really bad blood sugar levels when I posted on that thread, which always causes me to be aggressive, and I intend to refrain from posting when in that state again.) That is one huge difference between you and me, though. I made a mistake and I can admit it. I'm surprised you just threw Grizzman under the bus. He's the one that stood up for you. I'm not negotiating with you on anything, Luc. You have nothing to offer me, except some ideas on new set-ups maybe. I can't trust your info to be accurate. Your previous inclination to make up answers when "I don't know" was the right response and belittle anyone that gave a better one challenging yours led me to realize you are in these forums for people to look up to you. It's an attention thing. Hey, we all need acceptance from somewhere. I'm fine with it coming from my wife and kids and the families that are a part of the kids group I run. Real life people. You need it to not only come from a website, but be focused on you completely. Otherwise, the person runs the risk of belittlement and apparently being called a "backstabber". Your forum looks nice. Don't worry, I have absolutely no intention of ever trying to sign on to it as I now know who runs it (thank you urbangardenfarmer). Good luck with it. This is the extra coding that wordpad has added so that the page comes out like you have made it. Is this file saved as a "doc" file? If so then that is the reason for all the extra coding. It is better to learn html coding with notepad since it will not add any coding on its own. If it was notepad that you used in making the webpage perhaps you tried opening the page in wordpad to see it. this lets wordpad add its own coding so that it can read the page. When you saved the file did you save it as a txt file and added the .htm or .html after the file name? you must do this in order for IE to show the file as a html webpage. I learned html using notepad before there were editors to do html coding. I have tried many editors and i still think Microsoft Front Page is the best for people who just want to have their own webpage. You can find FP on ebay for around $50 for FP2000. I would choose this since it makes it easy to make webpages and you can concentrate on the graphics and content of your pages rather than the html coding. While it is still good to know html coding, it is not necessary to understand it all. JamesS

Charles, What are you really looking to do here? Hosting webpages for other people involves having a SERVER computer,Programs on the computer for a CGI(common gateway interface)bin and SQL database(for catalogs), and usually a T-3 internet connection line which costs around $1500 a month. Is this what you want to do? On the other hand, if you would like to start out a little slower, you could learn the HTML language so you can make webpages. It would require you to learn Photo manipulation so you could put pictures on the webpages. To me webpages are sources for information. For a webpage or website to be interesting it has to tell me something i don't already know. Do you have a particular interest or hobby that you know well? Maybe you can put your knowledge on a webpage to help others that are looking for this kind of information. You need to tell us what you want to do so we can steer you to the information you need to get. JamesS
