| I thought I had it right. Viewing source code in other peoples' posts makes me think I did it right. But when I try to add an image to a thread in one of Spike's forums, I keep getting the dreaded "box with an X."
The code I'm using is <img src=http://home.dejazzd.com/cfisher/pix/leftbehind.jpg>. I've tried putting the page address in quotes, and that doesn't work either. No matter how I try, all I get is this (I'm putting it in with actual code so you can view the source code for yourself):
Any suggestions? |

| is that supposed to be dejazzd or dejazzed? The reason I ask is because at the address http://home.dejazzd.com/cfisher/piz/leftbehind.jpg all there is is one of the boxes with a red x. I think I should have been able to see the picture by going to that address, if I'm wrong about that, please excuse me Angie |

It must be a problem with the code on my page. I can see the pictures, but maybe that's because I'm the author? The <img src> code works here when I'm borrowing one of Spike's .jpg pages:![]() Can anyone else see the index here? If so, do the pictures come up when clicking on the links? |

| You're trying to link to your C: drive. When I go to your page and click on the pictures in the index, the view source reveals they are linked to C:. You need to FTP the pictures to your web space. |
|
| Kim, when a gif does not show, check the gif URL. Put the URL in the 'Address' window and use the 'Enter' key. The gif should display, if it does not, there is a problem with the URL....the URL you added to your message does not display. The quote marks are part of the code. I could not view any of your 'Index' gifs.

| I'm feeling really stupid here. I thought I had FTP'd the pictures to the webspace, but I must have missed a step somewhere. I've been using the Page Tutor instructions. I've gone back over it, and I still can't figure out what I missed. I'm using Notepad and FTP explorer. Would someone mind telling me what I need to do (in clear, short words that even a dummy like me can understand)? |
|
| Got it! (obviously) I gave up on FTP Explorer and just used plain vanilla FTP. Thanks for letting me know where the problem was. |

| What is FTP Explorer? What does it do? I also like to include a screenshot in my posting, don't know how to do it though. Appreciate your help. Thank you. |
|
| FTP Explorer is a way of sending the HTML programming to your personal web page. I found out about it through a site called pagetutor.com. Info for download and use is found there. As far as the screenshot goes, in the THS and GardenWeb forums, you can use the It is considered unethical to use a shot from a website other than your own or I've found Pagetutor.com to be very helpful. Hopefully, you will, too. Good |
Here is a link that might be useful: Pagetutor

| Pagetutor is very basic, they dont even mention the referance to the current version of HTML, it will not pass a validator, easy for someone starting out learning, but much more is needed to build a website. |

| Hey! I am trying to do the same thing. Just wondering if this image shows up when I use the img scr. Thanks!

| Teehee.. this thread is almost 2 years old. Your image code must be working fine, it shows up. It just needed a little brightening in psp.

| Wow! I didn't realize how old this thread was! |
|
| Even though this thread is old, the subject comes up from time to time in various forums where people want to post images this way. Some people do not like images posted this way, because it slows down their reading, those with dial-up connections specially. |

The code I have typed inside < and > is: img src="http://community.webshots.com/photo/107728339/107735668TcaaBu It still doesn't appear to work. Help! |
|
Part of your problem is I don't believe Webshots allows remote hosting. But you should be able to use the actual URL of the picture. |

| I'm kind of getting the gist of how to post pics here. But first I guess I need to set up my own web page to put the images on in the first place. How is this done? |
