For Newbies - Easy Instructions to Post Pics
Comments (36)Hi Folks, I wrote my original post in July of 2007 and as you might have figured out by now, Photobucket has changed the way you upload pics and then post them into the forum here. Whereas there used to be a box in which to browse, chose and upload your pics, well the box is still there but when you click on it and it opens up to where you file your photos on your computer, you can hold down the CTRL key and choose several photos at the same time and then upload them to photobucket. Next, it used to be when you clicked on the HTML code it popped up "copied." I've not uploaded pics in awhite so I had to click on that HTML Code box, then right click it and "copy" the code, then go back to the forum page, put your cursor in your msg box where you want the pic to appear, go to the top menu bar, click on Edit and then click Paste and the code appears your msg. It's only when you Preview Message and Submit Message do the pics appear in your post. If anyone needs more help with me, please let me (or others) and someone will help. If I'm not explaining this correctly or someone knows of a better, easier way to put the pics into msgs, please let me know also. I'm no expert on this that's for sure. Comments (4)I posted this on carolma's garden thread, but it's more appropriate here ... Here's why I like google's picasa web more than the tinypic.com option: If I select a small size for my photos when I post them via picasa, you can click on them and be taken directly to the larger size photo in the picasa album. If I click on a small tinypic photo, I end up at a page that offers me an account at tinypic; the original photo is nowhere to be found. The small size Carol used (320px x 221px) seems really useful for threads where there are a lot of images. I often use an old laptop with limited graphics memory, and loading an image-heavy thread takes a VERY long time, and makes my computer behave badly. So, yes, the photo-hosting site is a personal choice, but there are a lot of details to consider when you choose!...See MoreHow to include photos in a post (revised 7/10/11))
Comments (3)I didn't mention this on the last thread because I thought it would have been too technical. When talking about 'size' of a digital photo, it can refer to two separate, though often related things. The physical size of the picture on the screen, and the file size of the information necessary to show the photo. Physically large pictures mess up the thread formatting. Large file sizes are the ones that take forever to download. So these two photos have the same file size, just the html commands determing photo size are different. The first is 240 px, the second is 1000. You can start to see some fuzziness in the second picture where there really isn't enough information....See Morelooking for html tags for gardenweb.....help!!!
Comments (16)I am not linking to an external source just making HTML within the editing box given by Garden Web. So here's my dilemma. I can remove to extra bullets above the pics using (p) but I have to run all of my script together as follows: This is how it looks now with an "invisible" line of equal signs so that I can keep my entries separate. (a href="http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/nettasaura/seedtradepics/33247996.jpg" target="_blank") (img src="http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/nettasaura/seedtradepics/th_33247996.jpg" width=60 height=60)(/a) (b)AGERATUM(/b) '06(T) - "Blue Mink" - (i)(ageratum houstonianum)(/i) - blue - 2 packs/30 seeds each =========================================================== (a href="http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/nettasaura/seedtradepics/AlyssumRosieODay.jpg" target="_blank") (img src="http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/nettasaura/seedtradepics/th_AlyssumRosieODay.jpg" width=60 height=60)(/a) (b)ALYSSUM(/b) '06(C) - "Rosie O'Day" - (i)(lobularia maritima)(/i) - pink - 1 pack/50+ seeds each =========================================================== Apparently in order to get rid of those top bullets I have to run everything together like this. And as you can see that would make it very hard (especially in that narrow editing box you are given)to make quick and efficient trades when I have to dig through all of this with no separation for entries...and I have an update of at least a hundred items coming in the next few weeks. (a href="http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/nettasaura/seedtradepics/33247996.jpg" target="_blank") (img src="http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/nettasaura/seedtradepics/th_33247996.jpg" width=60 height=60)(/a) (b)AGERATUM(/b) '06(T) - "Blue Mink" - (i)(ageratum houstonianum)(/i) - blue - 2 packs/30 seeds each(p)(a href="http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/nettasaura/seedtradepics/AlyssumRosieODay.jpg" target="_blank") (img src="http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m114/nettasaura/seedtradepics/th_AlyssumRosieODay.jpg" width=60 height=60)(/a) (b)ALYSSUM(/b) '06(C) - "Rosie O'Day" - (i)(lobularia maritima)(/i) - pink - 1 pack/50+ seeds each(p) So do I just have to live with the extra bullets in order to make my life easier? Thanks, Netta...See MoreDavidrobert1
