Web pages on GardenWeb

I know nothing about webpages but would like to learn. My first question is do you have to have a site elsewhere and then link it to GW? I have seen some pages that have a lot of graphics, etc, and assume that is so in those cases. Then there are other pages that just have still photos. Is there a way to just upload pictures to your member/trade page without constructing a web page per se? Thanks, Barb

YOU need to have a web page somewhere else, and link to it from GW.

Thanks for your answer. I have space on my isp but have to do some html. Have been communicating with a fellow gardenwebber who has said she will do my page. That would be the easy way out but I would not learn anything from the process. Maybe I could learn to maintain the page. Barb

It used to be that when you clicked on "Edit" of "My Page" there was a box at the very bottom that said 'Home Page' and you could put a link to your site such as a blog or home page. A friend had made a home page for me with a few pictures etc. which is linked above so when "My Page" was clicked you had the option to click on the 'Home Page' or blog of that person, but now there is no such option on my "My Page". You can still put it on the "Optional Link URL" box, but as you say that takes a little time. Just wondering if the 'Home Page' option on "My Page" had disappeared for everyone. Click the 'Edit' button on your "My Page" to see.

have you tried with a different browser on your cell phone? I have several browsers I use on my phone, firefox, opera mini, and dolphin HD, all are very good but some work better for some things than others. For GW I often use firefox since I can add on adblock plus and easylist which helps block a lot of the ads that make it almost impossible when on a cell phone sized screen. So you may want to try that they are all free and will install in seconds, it you decide you don't want them just go to manage applications and uninstall it. Your phone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread so all of those browsers should be easily available to you from the market. you might also go into your browser settings on the phone and clear all the cache and cookies and stuff see if that might help. To do that on the phone open your browser window then click on your menu button then on the more option , then settings scroll through there to find the cache, cookie, history form data etc try clearing all that it might have saved a corrupt cookie or something.

hmmm .. Found why my browser does this.. 2 clicks to back out of a page.... its my advertising blocker. I disabled my PeerBlock ad-blocker temporarly for 15 minutes, and then any page I enter, I can back out of with a single click.
