Adding Chinese Text to My Web

| I am using FrontPage 2000. I need to add a small amount of Chinese text to my web. I have a PDF file with the full Chinese language text which I can link to, but I would like to add one sentence from that file to my English language home page. I tried copy and paste but it didn't work. Would appreciate any suggestions or advice.
Thank you,
Barbara |

| You need a special LANGUAGE command for that bit of text, to make sure it shows up correctly. To be honest, it's a PITA because it won't show up for all you users because of the FONT issue. A screen grab of the text, inserted as a JPG would be a lot easier, and would be guaranteed to show up for everyone. |

| One easy thing to do is to make it a jpeg. You could match the color and the fonts easy enough in photoshop. Endora |

| As an alternative, you can enter the numeric Unicode entry for each character. For instance, to display "Nippon Electric Company/NES" in Japanese Kanji, you just enter a "#" symbol and then the Unicode numbers and you get 日本電気株式会社. If we knew which Chinese language you were using, we could look up a table for you. If it's Han, there are some controversies over how Unicode UTF-8 handles the underlying character and the variant glyph, but you should still be able to take care of your basic needs. Unicode has a certain numeric limit that is far exceeded by Han and other Chinese languages, but you should be able to get your choice across. |

Susan - That's the "font problem" I was talking about: you don't have a UNICODE or Chinese font installed |

| So three years have elapsed. How many cannot see Spewey's Japanese now? I have not updated anything in the past three and the characters all appear fine insofar as I can tell. |

| I can see them, and recognise the first two as the characters for Nippon. |
