Ok I am learning FP 2000 now and wont to make a form how do I do it and save it as a mailing form to me?

That is the only part I cant figure out with out a little help!

First thing you need to do is check with your web host to see if they use front page server extensions. If they do then you can use the form wizard to make your form. If not then you will have to use CGI( usually a Perl Script) instead.

To start the wizard select file>new>page. In the dialog box there is a general list. Click on the form page wizard, then click OK, and the form wizard will appear. Reading the help files will get you thru the wizard. If you need more help ask and i'll try to answer.

Thanks JamesS I found a tutorial on it and D/L it to study. I need something like a small order form that can be mailed to me after it is filled out, How and Where can I find that? Or will FP2000 do that for me?

I live a half mile from the National Lumber in Newton and can assure you they have no engineers working for them. In Massachusetts an engineer is not required to design typical dimensioned lumber framing that is shown in the building code. But any structural element that is not shown in the code (LVL's, PSL's, structural steel, trusses, etc.) must be designed and stamped by a MA engineer. When the framing is complete, most towns require the engineer to submit an affidavit certifying those elements were built according to the original approved design. What National Lumber can do for you is ask the company that makes one of the structural elements mentioned above, to send them a design with a MA engineer's stamp on it. Most of these companies have an engineer registered in all states. But you will need drawings complete enough that the engineer can understand the loads and other conditions involved. The lumberyard will do a materials takeoff for you so they can give you a price. Are you ordering lumber and building the house yourself?

Sorry I wasn't clear! I guess I thought if I knew what I was thinking, you would too. LOL. Now, the files are still on my webpage because after I noticed I could not open up that bottom row of tables on my FP program on my computer, I did not republish. So as far as the visitors go, my pics are still there for viewing. I noticed the background is still on some of my pic pages, and I can put it back on all of them with one click. But that is what I was trying to remove in order to be in compliance with my webserver (ICD). And this is not just this one webserver, but all sites that use the FP extensions will be changed soon. I was just trying to get ahead of the game and get it all in compliance before the cut-off date, which could begin in August. After I removed everything down to the bare bones, I am still left with FP extensions somewhere on this site. What I needed was a list of what all is included in the Shared Borders that I can remove. And yes, I would love to be able to get my picture folders back on my website program on my computer like they are on the actual website. Oh, I have a copy of the website on drive c, but it is automatically backed up once a week, so is probably not going to be any better than what I have now. Do you have any colleges near you? Some sell it cheaper but I think they will only have 2002 now. I had a chance to by a educational copy real cheap and didn't and now I need it for a class. The college here puts last year's copy on sell at the end of the year. I bought my daughter a copy of Adobe Illustated 10 for $99 which is about $50s less than any where I looked.

This is happening when you are trying to connect to the web server, Correct? If so then check your settings that you put in to access the server. Maybe they use a different port to transfer with. When i was using FP 98 i made a shortcut to the editor and bypassed the rest of the program. Since i use a FTP program(Leap FTP)i did not need the rest of FP. FP 2000 is much more integratedand does not have the problems that FP 98 does . JamesS

Good Saturday afternoon group. You come highly recommended to me by a friend of many years ago. He told me that you can take a Senile Senior and make him into a Web Host. In looking over some of the correspondence, it all looks like Greek to me, so you may have a task on your hands.
Can any of you tell me what is the first step, where do I find it, and how do I understand it? I'm 66 years old, live outside Chicago and am 'rarin' to go get some new knowledge

Charles, What are you really looking to do here? Hosting webpages for other people involves having a SERVER computer,Programs on the computer for a CGI(common gateway interface)bin and SQL database(for catalogs), and usually a T-3 internet connection line which costs around $1500 a month. Is this what you want to do?

On the other hand, if you would like to start out a little slower, you could learn the HTML language so you can make webpages. It would require you to learn Photo manipulation so you could put pictures on the webpages. To me webpages are sources for information. For a webpage or website to be interesting it has to tell me something i don't already know. Do you have a particular interest or hobby that you know well? Maybe you can put your knowledge on a webpage to help others that are looking for this kind of information.

You need to tell us what you want to do so we can steer you to the information you need to get.

rainmaker, sorry I missed your post when you first wrote it. I have made a simple mail-to form that might be what you are looking for if you still need one. On my form when you complete it and click on the submit button it automatically e-mails the information to the e-mail address that I put in the code. It was very easy to do and I learned how to make it from someone who answered my post at this forum. He no longer comes here and is sorely missed!

Sit tight, I'm trying to get to the bottom of the "why" &
"how come" that no one seems to be talking here in this forum any longer.
I also used to highly recommend this site, but now wonder why I did. In the meantime, have a look at my endevours.
