If anyone else feels that I was calling them stupid I am sorry and that was not my intention. I do however feel that the subject of genetic engineering is getting an unjustified bad reputation. Since you have brought up education I will reveal mine. I have a BS in bioinformatics and computational biology with minors in computer science, statistics and chemistry. I am currently working on my MS in biotechnology. There is more than a few people eating GM crops currently and they aren't dying. Many people mention that the long term effects of GM produce should be studied and I agree with that and if they find a reason to remove the products they will. But at this current time I see no reason to have a concern. Tests are performed on the plants to look for toxic substances and allergens what more do you need. If anyone doesn't want to eat GM crops I am sure they can greatly reduce their intake of them by shopping at local farm stands. I have read a lot of the remarks against genetic engineering and they are all full of unsubstantiated claims and misleading experiments. Marcia, since you have studied biology I am sure you are familiar with the ames test. The ames test wasn't around in the time of cyclamate, our technology has come a very long way since then. Before the ames test scientists had to feed mice a lot of the compound and then dissect the mice and examine every inch of tissue for cancer. Now with the ames test all you need to do put the compound on a special agar plate and incubate for less than 2 days. And there are other countless advances to ensure safety. Even if the genes were able to somehow get into every organism within a species knocking out genes is not even as hard as putting them in. Also if you have taken genetics you know that you would never see the gene taking over a population it would reach Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium within the population. Yes and yes. :) We matched finished colors to the different types of wood, so everything is the same shade. The doors/trim/windows are all SW Walnut Wainscott. The cedar beams (inside and out) are Minwax Early American. The spruce T&G ceilings on the verdandas are a 50/50 mix of the two. Two bathrooms have mahogny cabinets with a dark glaze, two more and the laundry have cream cabinets with a soft glaze (all by Jim Bishop Cabinetry). All countertops are limestone. Powder room has a wall mounted copper sink. The kitchen cabs I had made in England. Three sections are pine with a medium/dark stain, the coffee station is black, the fridge/pantry section is cream and the island is F&B French Grey. All are distress/glazed, finished on site. Hood trim and island countertop are antique pine. coffee station is new pine. Rest of kitchen and laundry are granite. Be sure to see a door in person before you order. We had our window supplier bring over a door from Atlanta. It was $100+ more per door than the ones we ended up getting and was SO thin, didn't feel like a nice quality door, weight wise, and sounded hollow when I knocked on it. I think nadiag is right about their services - they don't cold call, but optimize searches on google, yahoo and msn searches so that you come up. The zip code exclusivity means that they won't perform this service for other therapists in those zip codes. If I wanted to pay a ton of money, I could get them to only work with me in the entire DC area. That doesn't mean other companies and individuals aren't optimizing their own names to appear on top during web searches. Osbist and rivkadr - I am working on a website. In fact, that cold call from Virtro really catalyzed me. I've contacted 2 web designers and gotten proposals. I've written more than half my content and already know which pages I want. Yes, it is a simple site in terms of not doing e-commerce on the site. Rivkadr - here in DC, most therapists I know don't have websites, but perhaps 5-10% do - and in a city with tons of therapist, that's still a lot on line. But almost all their websites are amateurish and the content is lacking in integrity and honesty toward potential clients. I know these sites work for some of them, but I want one that's more honest and reflective of the therapy process - and less insulting to the viewer's intelligence. I'd also like visual appeal and sophisticated design. My concern with Virtro is that I'm not sure they're offering anything I couldn't do myself with paying for google adwords. I think that's all they're doing - but on 3 search engines instead of one. They claim to be superior about knowing which adwords are most effective. Nadiag- it sounds like they have truly performed that way for you. I'm not sure I could do as well for myself. If I do google adwords myself, in a big city, you pay for the search words and number of clicks to your site - it's much more costly bc. therapists bid against each other to pay the most for those search words. So my monthly costs could well be the same as Virtro's charges - $150-300/month - which isn't very different than the yellow page ad I've had (that used to work to bring a few patients a year, but is no longer effective). Nadiag - when you hire Virtro, does your fee to them cover the cost for all those search words - or do you also have to pay google, yahoo, and msn for each keyword you've selected? I think that Virtro - just like google adwords - is much more expensive in a more concentrated, urban market. I'm so glad you stumbled on this thread and responded. I had thought I"d pass on Virtro - but since you've had success, I may recontact them and see if their cost includes all charges by the search engines to use those keywords. Thanks.
