 o
domain name extensions

I am looking to help my husband have an online presence where folks can order his woodcrafts. I was looking at available domain names and found that several of the names we'd choose are unavailable with the "com" extension, but are available with others including "biz" and "us".

So as an example, crafts.com is not available but crafts.us and crafts.biz are available. So I was thinking of using a name with either "biz" or "us". Would it be better to have a more memorable name with a non-standard extension or a longer one with "com"?

It used to be that all toll free phone numbers began with 800. Now there are 888, 877, 866 and perhaps others. Consumers have gotten more used to that; I wonder if they will for a variety in extensions also.

I personally would make it more specific to him, and have the .com ending.....Such as "Cocooner Crafts", or something that identifies him and is still catchy.

So many of the .BIZ domains are selling sleazy stuff that it's not a nice neighborhood to be in.

Find a name in the .COM area that explicitly describes his stuff.

Lazygardens, that is a really cogent point. We did choose one with a com extension.
