I wondered how many of you have your own site ? Is it worth it? Do you sell from your web site? Which of the free web site have you found the most business on? For me is has been Local Harvest I have had lots of emails and call with new customers who found us through them, (does anyone do business on there store?). I do have my farm on the web. I felt that it was an important tool for my customers, be they CSA subscribers or shoppers at Farmer's market. I can hand anyone a business card with a web address, and if they want to know more or wish to contact us, they can easily do so. I use Netfirms "free" web-hosting (actually costs about $13 per year) so, yes, it is worth it. I am also listed on LocalHarvest.org and like you, have found it to be worthwhile. We do not sell our subscriptions through Local Harvest, but get many contacts through there. We are also Certified Naturally Grown and can be found on their web site at: www.naturallygrown.org For Farmer's, a web-site is one more way to close the gap between you and your customer. the safety part yes it should be safe, my friend uses hers to order online and I think she does some banking too. The printer you need to check the list they have for the ones that are definitely compatible my friend has use 2 different ones with no problems, for mouse she had to try a few usb plug and play versions till she hit one she liked that worked well, using a usb wireless mouse is a good idea since the keyboard is wireless too, now the remote can be used to take on some of the duties of a mouse and the keyboard that comes with it is a specially designed one that has special keys to do certain things, the usb ports are in the back of the unit so I had her get a usb cord to be able to run it to the front then plug in a little usb hub to plug her mouse into that gives more usb ports. I would definitely go to the forums they have some very good ones dedicated to these units. My friend has learned so much about hers from those forums. You do not have to worry about getting any updates the updates are sent right to the units and remember this is not a regular pc so no software can be loaded but you can use websites like google Docs to do word processing and docs and spreadsheets etc and you can then have your printer print them.. You can set up other email on line if you prefer also. My suggestion on the mouse would be a small notebook sized mouse in usb wireless. They are smaller and easier to handle with older hands or arthritic hands, I have arthritis and I much prefer using a small mouse. you can google search for some of the forums but I know my friend said it has links to them on her unit home page.

Used to use notepad here but I have found webbuilder 2006 to be a great programmers tool simply for its ability to show me instantly through my local dev sever the product I am making, whether that be xhtml or server side scripting. It also is great for having line numbers and color codes in the code which makes tracking down errors a breeze. It has full CSS/CSS2 support as well, with full tracking of requireds, includes, classes, fucntions, and variables.

When I first started out in the pool business in 1982, there were only a handful of choices one could make in regards to what equipment to use. It amazes me when I read all of your posts in this particular subject posting, just how far the technology has come. The choices can be overwhelming. Alot of guys like me tend to stick to what has been best for us in the long run. It has been my experience that: Sta-Rite used to be considered the best until they started having problems with their hair and lint pots. Hayward stepped up in the 90s, re-tooled and re-invented themselves. They took a big chunk of the market and then pi__ed it away by not honoring their warrantry on any of their product. Pentair stepped in and changed the market from there and in the process, they backed their product with an unsurpassed warranty. Now they seem to question every warranty. Everyone has had a different experience which of course will shape their views. Here is the question I have of all of you: Do you do the right thing? Do you take care of your customers and do you honor your word? Whether you are a builder or service person or manufacturers rep, do you show by you actions that you have integrity in a business that has been known to be full of thieves,liars and cheats? I love doing what I do, and it is always so rewarding when you have a client that has had a bad experience with somebody else that has done work for them, tell you how much they appreciate someone that did what they said they would do and did it when they said they would do it, for the price they said they would do it for. You can argue all you want about what equipment is best or what computer software is best but the most important thing should be to set yourself apart by doing the right thing by people. The homowners in this forum look to all of us as professionals to steer them in the right direction before, during and after their pool or spa experience. Let's concentrate on that above all else. The one poster that should be crowned King for all of his insight and help to homeowners and professional alike is "repair guy". You are the man!!!
