I used one recently. It was a large 19" frame and I had it on a tripod. We were relocating and our larger/better furniture had been shipped. We were living with bare essentials and the house looked empty. I placed the frame in the empty family room. My realtor liked it and got positive comments from buyers. I had loaded about 10 photos, mostly showing how the rooms looked with furniture. I also had a few aerial shots showing the house and property. The house sold in 2 months this past summer. I don't think it "sold" the house, but it was a useful tool in our situation. We purchased the frame from photovu.com. They are pricy, but it is a great way to display the seemingly endless digital photos we seem to accumulate on our computer!!

Yes, Michaels is national, and IMO they're a big ripoff. They run "50% off framing" coupons so often that they jack up their regular prices in order to accomodate that reduction - with the coupon their prices are usually comparable to independent frame shops and their quality is often inferior. Good call to go somewhere else. For future reference... If you're up to reassembling a picture yourself (easy once you get the hang of how it goes together), you can take the frame to a glass shop and have a piece of glass cut to fit it. It is MUCH cheaper to buy glass this way than it is to get it at a frame shop where it is marked up, often by a great deal. I once took a picture (approximately 20x30) to a frame shop to purchase new glass after it got knocked off the wall, and the framer wanted $40 for the glass alone. I had already disassembled it to get the broken glass bits out of the edges of the frame so I was just lugging around the frame. On the way home I passed a glass shop and on impulse stopped in. They had the exact same glass in stock, cut a piece while I waited and charged me closer to $15. I frame in acrylic - aka plexiglass - nowadays for weight and safety, especially for large pieces.

I would encourage you to consider a large single piece of art on that wall instead of a "gallery". I think it would be dramatic and create great interest. Where a group of small things is not as interesting unless you do favorite family photos or something with some sentimental value. But from what I see on the floor, it looks like you are thinking various art pieces. Let me find some photos for inspiration for that wall. bbl

Cut paper or cardboard the size of the frames and test them out on the wall in the arrangements you are considering. Vertical, row or grid are probably ‘cleaner ‘ and more modern arrangements, but it ultimately depends on how it looks. If you do go with grid, they should be spaced more closely than shown in the photograph so they ‘read’ as one object. My personal preference is to use images that mean something to me, whether prints or photos, but that’s entirely up to you. Black and white photos, close ups of flowers, different cities, doors,..browse the art sites for ideas. Have some fun, and good luck!
