I can add music to a post here but I can't add it to my website. Do you use a different code? The one I have been using is

Hi Judy, I think your problem is that the "embed" code is only seen by Netcape browsers. You need to use "bgsound" with "embed" for your music to be heard by both IE & Netscape. Heres a site that explains:

I personally would not suggest using Itunes unless you are using related products it can cause problems if not. I would do the simple method Copy music files from an audio CD Insert the Audio CD and start Windows Media Player. If WMP is in Skin mode, press CTRL+1 to view WMP in Full mode. Click Copy from CD. Or, on the File menu, you can click Copy, click Copy from Audio CD, and then choose the drive from which you want to copy. Click to select each audio file that you want to copy. By default, all files that you have not already copied are selected. Click Copy Music. This copies the file into the My Documents\My Music folder by default. another very simple method where you do not even have to use windows media player is, you pop in your CD into your computer's CD drive, it should pop-up a window asking what you want to do with it. Open the contents of the CD and you'll see all the songs on the CD. If a window does not pop up and the CD starts playing, stop it and go to> Start -> My Computer -> the CD drive with your music CD to see the contents of the CD (you might have to right click on that drive and select explore to view contents). All you have to do from here is highlight all the songs and drag and drop it into a folder that's on your computer or on your external drive, or even easier once they are highlighted right click on that area and choose copy to and find the folder you want to copy them to, usually the My music folder.

I am astonished that people continue to use peer to peer illegal downloading services. Hasn't anyone been keeping up with the fines and prosecutions over this? A bit late to this, but did you try calling the iPod tech support number yet? I did that when I got my new iPod (shuffle) & the young man was very nice & helpful; did a shared desktop screen while on the phone as well, where he showed me w/ pointers what to do & what to click. (side note: I believe new devices from Mac are just not as intuitive as they once were. I never had to get help w/ my old iPod) Do you know how to make a screenshot? Showing what your screen looks can be helpful for stuff like this. You should be able to do a search of your computer for the iTunes folder, shouldn't you? When I've purchased Amazon MP3s, I simply dragged them into the iTunes icon on the desktop(dock) & then drag those files into the iPod - which shows up in the sidebar of the iTunes screen. I'm on iMac, tho - no experience how the Windows version of this works... FWIW, HTH

I use: http://www.listentoyoutube.com/ It extracts the MP3 from the video and downloads that to your computer. It doesn't download the video. I've been using it for quite some time and have found no fault with it,

Well I got it added to my website but as soon as I clicked save message it goes back to just seeing the html fot it!! What am I doing wrong???

You've got to be missing a code or space somewhere. Post again exactly what code you used.

I just thought about something.....Where are you writing your code? I use notepad and when I hit "save as" you have to put "index.html" for your main page and all others as "page2.html" etc. If you do not designate it as an HTML file it won't be read properly by the browser when you upload it. If you give me the url of your site I can source it and check it out that way too.

I used the code you gave me and added http://gjbentley.homestead.com/files/Music/wonderfulworld1_.mid where it was supposed to go(I think!!)
I can make it work in an email and on the test forum but not on my website.

Ok heres the deal Judy.....Your page is located at MSN Groups and it does not support some of the HTML codes in your opening. Also looks like it doesn't support it unless it is a file you have uploaded and click on it. I looked thru the help section under what codes were support there and background music is not listed. Looks like you are out of luck :o(

And BTW, that first code you had with "embed" is for Netscape browser and MSN is ofcourse an "Internet Explorer" browser and for that you use "bgsound" if it was supported in Groups.

Thanks Mary. For some reason I can get the music to play there but as soon as I save the message it goes. Guess what you say is right! Rats. The other code I was using shows a little box that you can click on to make the music play. I have used that code here with no problem. This is what I wanted to add there!

Bummer huh! And your code did work just fine here and I like that song :o)

The embed code makes the "play on/off" box and really should be used to give visitors the choice to turn off the music if they want. (the Bgsound code does not) Its ashame Groups doesn't support the codes. Have you tried the code for linking the music file and put "Play My Song Here".....That might work. Visitors would have to click on the link to hear it, but atleast it would be there.

Your welcome! I had a page at Groups too, but never used it so didn't do much with it. Especially since I've learned to build my own web pages. Just no discussion board like you have there.

I tried different codes and none seems to work on msn o.a loop=true autostart=true> ohhhhh when I preview my message here the player shows ehhhhh????
