is there a free e-mail out there?

i'm looking for an alternative to the various 'free' e-mail providers that send ads, track my movement, scan my e-mails for key words & gear their banner ads toward those key words, etc. does anyone know of a truly free e-mail? thanks.

There's an old saying, some say it is Norwegian - TANSTAAFL.

There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch.

Any paid ISP is probably doing the same thing. The best thing to do is install ad blocking software. Won't stop whomever from tracking you interests but at least you won't have to look at the ads.

create text file for your message. zip with password. give your relatives and friends the password by phonecall.

password encrypt with 7zip. and shows how to verify (before you send) that you can open with password.

there's also gpg to work with your email software. i have not yet tried (shame, shame)

afaik, unencrypted email can be read as "plain text" ("in the clear").
unencrypted webmail can be read.

And think of all the spam...Oh my!! Pxxxx enlargers, Bxxb enlargers, "upstanding" drugs and schemes to sell the same to others... Would they hit harder than say a joke from a friend or a notice of a meeting next week? And after all these years...it's a wonder the sun can even shine through with all that stuff flying around in cyberspace! Do you suppose that's keeping the earth from cooling off and contributing to global warming? Maybe we ought to have a campaigne to get everyone to keep their computers turned on... Wow, great deal and only two blocks from your home! Lucky you! And how cool that you were able to help your DH see your idea. I bet you're having loads of fun. : ) I have Home Design software by Punch for my Mac. It's loaded but there is a bit of a learning curve. I've mostly played with it for the inside. I sure wish I had bought it before our kitchen remodel. For that I did the design the old school way - with graph paper and pencil, and quite a few erasers. lol! I don't know anything about G Mail. However, at Hotmail you can configure up to five accounts together. All a user has to do is establish them independently and link them. There after you just log onto anyone of the accounts and use a drop down menu to move about the others. You can gain entry via any of the accounts. I do it most every day. DA

There's free, disposable emails services out there. This will let you receive email from a variety of places in a anonymous way without being tracked. But, you can't send it anonymously. Still, it's a great alternative to give out this email address without free of being tracked. http://mailinator.com/
