DVR with disk burner?

I'd like to buy a hard disk recorder to record over the air broadcast TV. I've had a couple of Philips recorders. One was before the Digital broadcast days and the other is post digital. (In the first one the DVD burner crapped out.) I guess they've worked well enough for me. I've been doing it for decades. I guess I was a leader in cutting the CATV off because I have not used it in over 25 years.

I'd like another one with the ability to burn DVDs in a format that can be used elsewhere. Should I look elsewhere for a DVR that will handle a plug-in DVD burner? Is there another way to burn DVDs from these things that I don't know about. It is probably pretty obvious that I am not on the bleeding edge of this technology. Please help me out. I don't do this a lot so it does not have to be uber convenient.

As far as any equipment goes, I'd love brands and models suggestions for what I might start to work with.

These things were killed off by TIVO and cable company subscription models; too many people think that $10/month is a better deal than $200 every five years. I looked at replacing our old Philips some years ago, and couldn't find anything. I'd be curious if you find any current products, short of the usual second-hand market web sites.

The other potential solution I saw was a dedicated computer with a video card able to take video-in, and associated software. Again, I haven't looked at this in years, and would be curious for any current solutions.

Looks like Magnavox has three. I only just took a quick look so far. I think that the only difference is the HD size.

Mine is Toshiba, and it has worked very well for us for several years, and so I do not know whether the old model is still available. It is a DVR620KU and it has a VCR player so that I can put my VCR tapes (ones that I had made myself) onto DVD.

The main problem you are going to run into these days is HDCP, Copyright protection. To do what you're asking really takes a computer, the right decoders, and the right software. It's not like it used to be.
