sony str-vx4 right channel not working

Hello all,

Our Sony STR-VX4 receiver right channel is not working properly. The sound still comes out but it is very low. If I put the sound on the left channel it is ok, but moving the sound to the right channel is very, very low. I do not get the full "stereo" sound properly out of the speakers.

May I ask what the problem is and what is the solution?

Thanks,

Chuck G.

Can you switch the right speaker for the left speaker just to make sure it's not the speaker itself?

If it isn't the speaker, try rotating the speaker wire in its connector a little. There might be some oxidation causing the problem.

If not, then you likely will have to bring the receiver to someone who can fix electronics, or decide if you want to upgrade to a different receiver now. Repair is relatively expensive and if there are different capabilities you want in a receiver, it doesn't make much sense to repair the old one if you could put that money toward a new one.

Hello Steve O,

Thank you for your response. I have tried the right speaker with other components and the right speaker does work. I guess now it is off to review other receivers and purchase a replacement.

Thank you,

Chuck G.
