Its been a while since we installed for phone and cable tv. What are the correct wires to use? Is RG6 still used for tv? (this is new construction)
Please excuse my lack of knowledge.

Typical construction in my area is Cat 5e for phone/network and RG6 for Cable.

I recommend to home run all cables to a small cabinet. It may be wise to install multiples if you can for future expansion.

i did CAT6 & RG6 in my basement for phone & tv wiring.

i also ran everything to a closet.

however, what i didn't do but wish i did was run HDMI from the wiring closet to the locations i wanted to have my tvs.

if i had done this, i could have put all the entertainment center stuff (dvr/cable box, receiver, dvd, etc) in the closet & had a clean install of JUST the flat screen TV on the wall instead of requiring an entertainment center under the TV.
