It is normal to have some protein spill into the urine regularly. It just happens. There is no danger from it.

when there is an excessive amount for an extended period of time, then it's necessary to find the cause as there may be a serious problem. Many diseases will cause protein spill.

Talk to your doctor. I am sure he will be glad to explain it to you.

My son had some in his urine when he was little, but it cleared.
I think in diabetes, it happens.

There are lots of reasons that you could have proteinuria. One is that you have a UTI and the proteinuria will disappear once the UTI is cleared. Another is that you have kidney disease or heart disease. I think in humans there are some hereditary causes for proteinuria too.

This website has a pretty good explanation on what it is and what to do. Bascially, there should be a search for the underlying disease. Good luck.

Here is a link that might be useful: Proteinuria
