two thoughts .... if they are new stock ... they could have been brought into the area already budded out ... second.. the nursery has a warmer setting than yours... both amount to micro climate ... you can cut.. break.. or scrape.. but when it all boils down ... patience is its own reward in very early spring ... test once.. but just stop after that ... it will come when its darn ready to.. or its dead.. either way.. there isnt much you can do about it.. and for sure.. its not hungry ... ken ps: if it was transplanted last year.. you didnt mention such ... in fact.. you havent given us much other than its not fast enough for you ... and the grass is greener on the other side of town ...

These cherries would have benefited in the repair ...think it's too late, a strong wind can snap them off. Looks at least double in circumference.

socks: People that aren't educated think the weirdest things about plants as well as other things...think about all plants this way...when they're in the wild no one takes care of them...there's no one running them in and out and falling hand and foot for them...that's ignorant..these plants (as well as so many) are photosensitive, as well as cold sensitive. so as the sun starts getting higher in the sky it triggers them, and especially once temps start being 50-33 degrees at night for a week straight. Nature never needed people to do what it does naturally

When you were outside, were you pulling weeds, etc.? At my location, there are 3 plants that affect people. These are poison ivy, poison oak, and nightshade. Nightshade is the milder of these three, that is, for some people. These plants are dormant at this time of the year and you may not have recognized those. Take precaution if you are pulling ground level vines. A couple of years ago, I got big dose of itches, redness, and swelling from cleaning out the edge of my lawn. Apparently, sap from a vine permeated the cloth of my trouser leg which caused me to itch. Without thinking, I rubbed and scratched making it worse because I was abrading my skin with the contaminated cloth.
