Yeah, I dunno about urine.... lol. The deal is I live in Korea currently. I have access to a grocery store and something like a WallMart but they don't have a gardening section - just some small local houseplants near the fishtank area. Too, I don't want to pay a lot. Speaking to the micronutrients - there is a lot of other random junk in the yeast which I think will cover those and if not I figured I can just smash up a multivitamin once-in-a-while and throw that in there. I'm totally guessing on the nitrogen but, from what I understand, protiens put in the soil (like fish emulsion) will break down to nitrogen. How much nitrogen will 1666mg of protien break down into? I'm assuming it is at least 200mg but who knows? Which leads me to another something I didn't mention before. Is the pH of this balanced? Can I find out without buying a testing kit? RJ......I now plan to mulch mow some of my leaves for mulch next year. But there is no way i can use all of them. I literally end up with close to fifty bags. And yes, in spring we're STILL bagging up leaves...... from the neighbors houses. They aren't very diligent about picking up their leaves, so inevitably throughout winter they all blow into MY yard. I can't even begin to tell you how frustrating it is. I feel like I'm raking leaves for six months out of the year!!!!!!!!!! ditnc - I'm assuming Mainely Mulch is mostly in New England. I do not know anyone who has used it. I just came across it at a local nursery while searching for straw. This was all they could offer. I believe it was somewhere in the $20 range. I passed, hoping to find something else to use, but have not. Maybe I'll use it and post my experience with it? Kim

Both Morton's kosher salt and Diamond Crystal kosher salt have bigger grains than regular salt, and therefore weigh less per volume. A cup of table salt weighs about 10 1/2 ounces, a cup of Morton's about 8 3/4 oz, and a cup of Diamond Crystal about 4 3/4 oz. To substitute regular salt for kosher, use about 1/2 the amount by volume. Here is a link that might be useful: weight of different salts per volume.

My hubby and I have been working this program for a little over 6 weeks and have lost 25 and 20 pounds respectively. It takes some adjustment - I am a bread/butter/sauce person, which is precisely why I needed this program. The biggest change is in how my clothes fit and how much more energy I have. We sometimes get tired of chicken and I don't eat fish, so that is limiting. Lack of salt was a problem at first, but after a while you start really tasting food again. Carrots are SOOOO sweet! We bake chicken using a little salt-free broth, water or white wine and then cut them into portions and refrigerate. I bake medium-sized red potatoes, sweet potatoes and steam fresh veggies. I boil eggs and then we use the whites in the morning, replacing the yolk (which our dogs find a great treat!) with fresh homemade salsa. I make our meals daily (lunches and snacks for workdays) picking from what I prepare over the weekend. It IS work, but like we tell people who ask, this is not a diet... it is a new way of eating. We will work the plan for a loss of another 20 pounds and then go on maintenance. I don't think we could ever go back to eating the way we did before!
