cracked heels-home remedy
Comments (65)I sliced my foot open a while back and I found using just plain old vegetable oil and then using a gallon zip bag. You have to first understand that your feet have NO oiling mechanism like the rest of your body.......they simply depend on sweat to moisturize. The worst thing you can do is go barefoot and take super hot showers!! I learned quite a bit about feet as we have had so many family members with diabetes and foot issues that coincide. Now I soak my feet in lemon juice and water for half an hour-warm water, then apply a coat of Flexitol Foot Balm, and I use the zip bags because you can zip it but it isn't strangling the leg and blood supply but it's enough to create plenty of moisture. This method has worked very well for me....See MoreHome remedies... can be good.
Comments (9)It just seems to me that if the stomach acid breaks down the good bacteria, Joann23456, it would also break down all of the other useful things that people take----aspirin, all medications, etc.-----and the benefits would be lost. Yet, we know that medications DO help people and THEY LEAVE THE STOMACH. Doctors don't know it all-------they never have------they cannot tell you WHY certain bodily functions happen---just that they do. Only GOD knows the WHY. ****************************** Here's another tip that may or may not help someone-----my DH has a terrible time with acid reflux & heartburn, etc. I read on another forum that a mixture of skim milk, tofu, and something else (sorry) might help. Well, after mentioning it to him (I didn't mention the tofu--lol) he actually drank some regular milk that night---didn't have his usual problem with his stomach!!!!!! He's been drinking milk now, especially when he eats spicy stuff----and it has greatly helped his problem. I notice he hasn't been eating as many of the antacids. So... **************************************************** Breast cancer and deodorants--------has anyone been keeping up with this???? Several years ago a co-worker told me that she did not use regular deodorants because they've been linked to breast cancer. So, I used the "all natural" deodorants from my local Wal-mart for a while, then eventually went back to my other ones. Now------fast forward----a few DAYS ago a researcher has come out to say that he's found a link between breast cancer and deodorant. Some people use baking soda, there's other natural products on the market. PS Deodorant has aluminum in it. Hasn't this been linked with Alzheimers????...See MoreWhat tools do I use for breaking up tiles?
Comments (0)Nipping Basics - Offset Tile Nippers 1. Tile nippers do not cut tile, they crack it. The line of cracking will generally be a straight line across the tile in the direction of the jaws. To get a straight across crack, place the jaws a at right angle to the edge. To get an angled crack, place the jaws at an angle to the edge. Only place the jaws over the tile approximately 1/4 inch (see the right way in figure A). Placing more of the jaws over the tile will make it VERY difficult to cut Be sure to hold the nippers with the flat side of the jaws facing away from your hand. The handles should be held as near the end of the hanldes as possible. This gives the most leverage. A gentle squeeze produces high pressure in the jaws. ALWAYS wear safety goggles when nipping. Until you are adept at holding the tile so that both pieces are still in your grip after the cut is made, (and all your fingertips are still attached to your hand) I suggest placing a towel over the nippers while cutting to keep the pieces from flying about. You can also place your hand with the nippers holding the tile in a paper bag. Nipping gets easier and more accurate with practice. Practice dividing tiles into four smaller squares by first halving one square then halve each remaining one. Circular shapes can be achieved by nibbling away at the corners of your tile. Nipping Basics - Wheeled Mosaic Cutters Wheeled Mosaic Cutters are basically used the in the same way except that they will cut, not crack, the tile so you should place the cutter in the center of the tile where you want to cut. If the nippers are not held at a right angle to the tile, a curved cut may result. FANTASTIC NIPPING TIP For harder to nip tiles such as Relics and other porcelain & stone or you have a lot of nipping to do try this tip. As a nipper-elbow sufferer this one worked wonders for me. I wish I had thought of it! Using a 3 ½" C-clamp, clamp the bottom handle of your nippers (or glass cutters) to your table. Slide a 15 inch, 1" diameter PVC pipe over the top handle and nip away! For extra cushion, slide foam pipe insulation over the pipe. (It will resemble the old water pumps you see in Westerns) No squeezing, no pain!! You wont believe how easy it is! As an added bonus, nail a plastic bucket (or plastic jug) to the side of the table, under the nipper to catch the falling pieces. Cut out the front 3" lower than the back. Before nailing, position the bucket so that the pieces hit the back of the bucket, then fall in. Safety Goggles are still strongly recommended....See MoreAnyone have any home remedies for repelling mosquitoes?
Comments (58)Ya know, nothing is a substitute for reading the toxicity warnings on any pesticide product, whether it's "natural" or whatever. How long you stay out of a "fogged" area depends on what the area is "fogged" with. "Fogging" just refers to the method of application. Pyrethrin sprays 2-4 hrs. some others as little as 30 min. In mosquito infested areas, new mosquitoes will quickly repopulate. Sprays only effective in very short term and not much use if not part of an overall mosquito control program. But if you live in an area like I do, where the mosquito is the secondary state bird, you have to adapt. Total control is a pipe dream, move to a less infested part of the country. I lived in PA for half my life, was rarely bothered, particularly in urban areas. Here, hordes, can barely make it from car to front door during hatch outs. It comes in waves. We don't expect to entertain after M hour during M times outdoors. We have a screened in porch for that. We've lived in an infested area for decades and rarely get bit. We work around them. When I backpack into the worst areas, I use DEET for exposed areas. It's toxic but if you're not slathering it on all over your body daily for you entire life, your risk is much less. As for the dragonfly shortage, I dunno but these insect sprays, if applied improperly so they get into the water, are very toxic to water life, and the stuff doesn't break down in water like it does on land. Dragonflies not the most sensitive creatures to water quality, but not the least either. About midway. Even they have a point of no return. Like I said before, Mom nature can help you but only if you respect her, otherwise you're in for a heck of a battle....See Morehald
