Calcium replacement 'therapy'??

Posted by downsouth (My Page) on

Does anyone know exactly what this is? I have severe osteoporosis, am taking Fosamax and Calcium supplements with Vitamin D, but a friend told me that her neighbor is on calcium replacement therapy. I wonder if she means hormone replacement therapy, such as estrogen, but she said calcium. I am too far advanced in the osteo stage for estrogen to do me any good!

My mother had very severe osteo porosis. She had a histerectomy so the Dr's put her on a regimen of a low dose of estrogen and calcium. She actually grew some new bone.
Not the thing for anyone at a major risk for breast cancer.....but sometimes you have to weigh the risks.
