LOL! Punamytsike, don't ever worry. If I'm not "feeling" the advice, I just don't take it! No hard feelings. It's funny, though, that you say that, because the minute I got it done I thought, "Blue toile wallpaper would be stunning in there, and would pull together all of my blue and white pieces that I have all over the LR. I even did a mockup of it: However, for now, I do like the green. You're right that there's no other greens around, but it's so subtle (in person, at least) that it just acts as a neutral. Plus, once I get the decorations inside tweaked a bit more, you don't see as much of it. I ended up refinishing the writing surface last night, too. I put the green cubbies back in, and I really, really like it (for now, at least!). I like that the green is just a little bit of the unexpected, and the secretary has that "changed over time" look. I also had another toile wallpaper in reds and golds, that *would* totally tie into the LR, but it was just soooo predictable. It looked lovely when I held up the sample, but it just didn't seem to have any personality, IFYKWIM. If I ever want to change it, it'll be a small job to paint the cubbies black, but for now I think I'll leave them as-is. Here's the desk down before with the horrid yellowing, chipping white paint, and after stripping and restaining it:

Some people NEVER find their passion, and that's why surveys find almost 70% of people don't like their job. 4. Get healthy: According to whom? You? What is so bad about his health? Does he smoke 3 packs a day like I did? Does he drink too much like I did? 5. Live in the moment: He is. He's happy just as things are right now. You're the one who isn't happy. 6. Be content alone: He grew up in a large family. He was never alone, and that thought can be frightening. 7. Be open to bonding over something other than TV: He HAS bonded. YOU haven't. 8. Not allow his negative feelings to upset me or make me feel inadequate: This last one is YOUR problem, not one of his faults. This is why people DATE and not move in after four seasons. You are realizing you're not compatible. Your personalities do not mesh. You have become rigid and he's laid back. Under normal dating circumstances you would just break up. But now you have property (things) that must be divided so you can go your separate ways.

Lucky you! Your house is beautiful! If it were mine, I would put a very long dining table behind that long sofa instead of that small round table. Then I would create a long island to leave the 4 feet of walk-through space needed in your kitchen. If possible, I would use the solid wall for tall cabinets to house all small appliances, pantry storage and counter depth refrigerator. On that island, I would put in the sink and 2 dishwashers, plus pull-out trash bin. You can see that gorgeous view while doing cleanup and food prep. In no way would I lose those floor to ceiling windows! Just my humble opinion, but in this case, form trumps function! But I feel the function is there in this plan. You will still have plenty of prep space on the island, plus there is some counter space on either side of the stove. But it would seem that that view is the reason you are building there. I wouldn't compromise on that.

I won't need a wrap. I can count on my hot flashes to keep me warm. Planning to wear black boots, knee high. I know not everyone will agree with that, but it works for me. They are dressy, not cowboy boots. I have a blue necklace that I got in Switzerland years ago that I will probably wear. The blue looks off in this pic, but you'll have to trust that it's the right blue. It looks almost white here, but it is light blue. Also, for anyone following my earlier MOG dress saga. I am wearing my "original" MOG dress to a wedding in a few weeks. Since I wasn't in love with the rhinestone that was sewn to the V in the neckline, I carefully removed it so I could wear a funky/blingy necklace instead.
