I saw something like that on a website called Marksdailyapple, re: resistant starch. Although I am not paleo I still read it because I enjoy the weekly success stories. I found it interesting because my personal experience, when I go fully paleo, I start to have histamine reactions to many proteins that I don't normally have and then I have a very limited diet. I found if I kept say Glutino crackers (not a lot, a handful every few days), basmati rice, or Udi's bread I can handle proteins, both products I mentioned are made with tapioca and potato starches so I started using them in my cooking with no problems. The potato thing is interesting as I find I can have nibble of potato and if I get this weird feeling at the back of my throat (maybe bitterness? not sure) I don't eat it but if there is no reaction then I usually have a 1/4 portion without problems. I think it has to do with the solanine content. I do hope the medical system starts to direct their attention to intestinal health, I really think there is something there. My medical turnaround has been remarkable but very much ignored by my doctors. I'm happy and healthy so that's fine by me. Because my system is crazy at times I find my skin starts to react oddly so I make it a point to drink a tbsp on gelatin in warm water to start my day and within a week there is an improvement. It makes me gag but the results are worth it:). Thanks for any input as I love any bit of information of health and diet I can get and very much appreciate it. I came across hydrolystate gelatin from Great Lakes Gelatin but you have to buy a lot of it so I wasn't sure if it was worth it to get it. LOL - 10-30 years ago I would have been rolling my eyes so deep in my head about "this person" (future me) talking that they would have gotten stuck!

I'm not sure that it would 'neutralize' toxic chemicals. Below are a couple of paragraphs to one article that we saved on the controversy between medical professionals when it comes to cures. Somehow it cleanses the blood from what I can determine. You know, the way it bubbles up when put on a wound, it's forcing bacteria out- oxygenating(?) it. It does the same in the blood stream. So it does not seem that would be the same as 'neutralizing'. Interesting idea though. I continue to research it since there is a good chance that it's being 'hushed up' by the money makers. "HYDROGEN PEROXIDE & HISTORY Ted from Bangkok tells us, "Yes, the pharmaceuticals are threatened by hydrogen peroxide cures! Last time, about 120+ years ago (during the reign of Queen Victoria), people in India (a British colony then) found that Hydrogen peroxide added in small amounts to drinking water cured a variety of sickness especially colds, flu, cholera, malaria, etc. It threatened the British monopoly drug sales, so they issued a fake news by hiring a news reporter disguised as a doctor to put out the information to the effect that taking hydrogen peroxide causes viral brain damage. FOOD GRADE WARNINGS: 4/18/2006: John from Sault Ste Marie, MI writes, "I'd be very wary of recommending that anyone use 35% hydrogen peroxide unless they've had HAZMAT training or the equivalent. I'm looking for the main author of the article - it's very lengthy. Lots of controversy on the health issue side of it. And as always, money seems to be the cause of the controversy.

This topic reminds me of my Mom and Dad. Mom told me the story of way back when they were first married and Mom would be spending a fair amount of time getting ready for work. She'd come downstairs and it seemed Dad would never say she looked nice, but only comment on something amiss. Back then, women's stockings had seams in them. One morning, she came downstairs and Dad said, your seam is crooked. She'd had enough. She blew up at him ... can't you for once say something nice! He didn't say a word. The next day, she came downstairs all dressed and Dad looked at her and said, "One of your seams is straight!" Oh so many years later, when Mom was in her 70s...she'd gotten quite heavy...she went on a diet and exercise routine, joined the gym and made a real effort to get trim again, and it worked. She looked great. One day Dad said to her, "Get your skinny little a$$ over here." Now some might not take that as a compliment, but Mom was absolutely delighted and couldn't wait to tell me!

I think at some point I will perhaps get into this "kefir-ing" but not right yet. I am just super busy. Don't know if I will be any more successful than I was at "sourdough-ing" which I tried at the beginning of the pandemic. The problem with that was, we just don't eat enough baked goods to make it worthwhile expending the time and energy maintaining a starter. Even the lowest maintenance options. We just don't eat a lot of baked goods. I'd love to eat more, but it just can't happen for a whole lot of reasons. On the flip side, kefir sounds like something we would consume on a daily basis, either water or milk. I can get good dairy kefir with live cultures at my local grocery, but it is something like 4-5 dollars a pint so I don't normally buy it. But I will take you all up on the offers of help at some point if I can. Kefir water sounds great because I actually don't like plain water. Practically have to force it down. For whatever reason plain water does not sit well with me. I often drink flavored soda water but that's not the cheapest way to stay hydrated. Am slowly recovering the use of my digestive tract. Ironically, I don't eat many of the fodmap foods anyway, not a fan of onions and garlic, although I do eat them in small amounts, and I rarely eat fresh pears or apples. Hubs eats and apple a day, but not me. That's because of the aforementioned dislike of drinking water, so I often dilute water with fruit juice, and that's how I have tended to consume my fruit calories a lot of the time. I drink a lot of cider and apple juice, don't know if that contributes to digestive issues, I think not but I can certainly cut down on the apple juice . . . the other fodmap no-no that I eat regularly though, is beans. But I've been eating beans my whole adult vegetarian life. I think with them the issue is being well-soaked ahead of time, and cooked, and the skins broken down or sieved out. Also the time of day you eat them, earlier is much better since stuff moves through your digestive tract (when it is functioning properly) faster during the day when you are up and moving. I have been limiting my bean intake and also pureeing the beans, which takes some of the digestive issues off the table . . .
