hi new here--quit smoking!

Hi, I usually check out the kitchen table forum and others.

I wanted tell someone I haven't had a cigarette since

Saturday. I had 2 left, smoked them a little at a time. When I had

the last part, I took my husband in the garage-where I smoked and told him

that was it! Getting dental work done, had to quit for healing process.

Good for You!!

One of the first steps is to quit buying the things. It's hard, but it can be done. Keep trying!

Here's how I quit-for what it may be worth to you. When I found myself looking for a cigarette, I went to my room and asked God to help me not to break down and go get cigarettes. In 2 weeks it was over.In April it will be 24 years.

did you google REJUVENATION PRUNING OF FLOWERING SHRUBS ???? why in the world any so called expert.. would NOT know how to trim this bush is beyond me.. and makes me wonder about his CV .... curriculum vitae ... and for the cost of a saw .. $10 at tractor supply ... i dont know why you would pay anyone to do it ... and let me know what this dude charges you ... maybe its worth a drive from adrain.. lol ... but then i would violate rule 3 above ... you cant really have rule 3.. and do this properly ... and that is why you are spinning your wheels ... all flowering shrubs.. you enjoy the show.. then prune when its done flowering .. so it can set its buds in late fall for next year ... or if the other type.. grow the new buds in spring .... ken

I'm glad to hear that. I kept asking about other roses vs. Helene and every time Cliff said that Helene was better. I was very happy he had one left for me. I'll have to order from him again next spring to get Gardens of the World and a few others on my wish list. Everyone who ordered should be sure to post some pics of theirs this summer so I have a nice long list next time.

Hi Chispa: My wife and I had a Regency I3100 (basically the same as your Hampton, I gather) installed in our house on November 3rd. It's been great; we haven't run our furnace for one second since! Anyway, what I wanted to tell you is this: When I installed the blower I had to use a rubber mallet to get it to seat fully into the tight spring clips under the stove. If you look at the back of the fan assembly before you attach it to the stove, you will notice that the heat sensor (silver disc) is mounted so that it will have contact with the stove body when the assembly is fully seated. If the sensor does not contact the stove, I suspect the blower will not come on when set to auto unless your stove is overheating. As to how hot a fire to make and how to do it: As Wolf said, how hot to make the fire is a function of whether the blower is going or not and what speed it's on. I start out with the damper wide open and the door cracked as well. I set the fan to "auto" and "low". It takes two sheets of crumpled newspaper and a bit of kindling to get two smallish logs going. Once that's established, I add some more wood and close the door, but keep the damper wide open until the fan starts (20-30 minutes). With the blower on low I run the stove with the damper about 1/2 way open and we get lots of heat, no overheating, and a lot of blue secondary combustion at the baffles. With the blower on high I can run it with the damper almost all the way open. It goes through wood much faster, but boy does it heat up the house in a hurry! When I go to bed at night I load it up with as much wood as I can stuff in, let the fire get established, then set the damper open about 3/4 inch and the fan on low. This gives us heat all night and we still have a good bed of coals in the morning. I did have one scare just like Wolf. I put wood in and forgot to turn the fan back on. I went upstairs and I could hear the "tink tink tink" sound as the stove was heating up. When I went down, the air pipes against the baffle were all glowing. I turned the fan on high for a few minutes, then back to low. I turn the fan off when I load wood (as the manual recommends) because the air flowing from the outlets can pull smoke out of the stove (venturi effect) into the house. I have been a lurker here forever...never posted. I know how hard it is to quit smoking. I smoke for over 20 years about 2 1/2packs a day. I quit 5 years ago. I had tried to quit several times but always went back. I quit by picking a date.I told myself that it was going to be hard but every day would be easier. I also read that when you quit smoking your body is over the withdraw from nicotine 48-72 hours after you last smoke. I told myself the first 3 days would be the hardest and after the 3 days it is all a mind game. I really believe that is what help me stop smoking is knowing that my body did not need the nicotine, that it was my mind. i did take a mini vaction from work, some people say they get very tired from not smoking.... The first 6 months are hard....you will give yourself every excuse to smoke again...it has been 5 years and once in great while i will still get the urge to smoke...I know I cannot smoke or even try to smoke...because I will be right back where I was. I smoked for 40 years , now I have COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) this is Emphesema in lay terms along with brochotus. I tried to quit many times over the years .I now have been a non-smoker for 2 years 11 months . I can no longer work ,I am on Oxygen 24/7 .Doing even the simplest things are a real chore ,bathing,shopping ,vacuuming,etc. My quality of life has ben severly diminished and also my longevty .Every day my breathing gets just alittle worse. I feel so terrible that my life is going to end soon and my wife will be alone,that I will not be sharing our childrens and grand childres lives with her.The youngest grand daughter is now 10 months old and the grand son is 6 weeks old.
So smoke if you want but be aware you are paying dearly for it. I am 57 yrs old .Why the heck didnt I listen when my 7 th grade Science teacher actually took his time to speak and educate me on the dangers of smoking .
I wish all who will try to quit the best of luck and encouage you to use your will power.Dont let a cigarette be stronger than you. Cravings will diminish each day.
Hang tough,and dont let a cigarette make you a weakling.

I also recently quit. It wasn't easy but soooo worth it. I used Nicorette which was for me a huge help. Some people like my husband are able to use the patch but turns out I'm latex sensitive so that wasn't an option. Plus part of my addiction was the physical act of smoking not just the nicotine. The Nicorette kept my mouth busy and gave a little nicotine and that curb the crankinessÃ¯Â¿Â½ allot as well. After the first two weeks the cravings became short lived urges. The big thing is keep busy! "an idle mind is the devils workshop" And after a month or two if you get an urge all you have to do is remember how hard it was to quit the first time, do you really want to go through it again. Also I found the longer it had been the worse 2nd hand smoke smelled till now I find it downright reeks. Best of luck and good job! Also, letting the world know that you quit is smart! It is one more deterrent

I had sleep study a while ago and my doctor told me that I had mild sleep apnea. I rented the machine and used it for about over a month, did not like it and returned it since then. Recently, I decided to buy and use it again. The nurse set the pressure for me as it was recommended by the Dr. before but some how in my sleep, I still wake up in the middle of the night feeling the same way as I am not using the machine. I thought when the machine blow air , it will help my air way to be open so I can breath better. Unless the pressure setting wasn't high enough to make it open.
Does anybody know what could happen? Do I have to change the pressure setting or I have to let my body to get use to it. Please inform. It would be really appreciated. Thanks Kevin
