bursitis pain

Does anyone have bursitis? If so what are you taking for pain relief? I have it in my right hip and sometimes it is realy painful. I can't even sleep at night. My Dr. said to take Ibuprofen or Naproxen type products. It gives some relief but I'm wondering if there is anything else I could take that would help. When it really gets bad, I use the heating pad and that helps. I want to stay off prescriptions as I don't have insurance coverage for them and relly can't afford them otherwise. Has anyone found any herbal remedies? Thanks.

RE: bursitis pain

I had really bad bursitis in both hips. I took ibuprofen and naproxen, but it didn't help much. I had a very expensive prescription-only cream and that didn't help much either. I had physical therapy - same story. What worked is that I had an appendectomy and the forced rest cured me. I am very afraid of it coming back so I am trying to be really careful about my exercise this go-round.
