Sonic toothbrushes

Gotta get one, anyone out there have one? Brand? Cost of replacement heads? Critiques please.

I've had a Sonicare for several years (maybe 6 or 7??) and I love it!! I think I paid around $90 for it, but worth every penny. If I watch for a sale, I can usually pick up a 2-pack of replacement heads for around $20. I'm sure they have newer models out now, but I'll continue to use my old one until it dies. My sister is a dental hygenist and has the whole family using them -- even our parents who are in their 80's.

My dentist sells the Sonicare at his office, he's that convinced it's good for oral care. My mothers dentist in another city also sells them to patients, but at a discounted price.

Watch for sales - and I buy the replacement brush heads at Costco. I haven't needed any recently, but I think for approx $17.50 - $18 for the two pack

I've used a Sonicare brush for years. We have a pair of them. Why would you necessarily want a charger that can charge both brushes at the same time? You're not supposed to leave the brush on the charger all the time because that will just destroy the batteries. Our current brushes are over a year old and still doing about two weeks on one charge. When one brush gets low, we leave it on the charger until it's finished (replacing it after use). Then the other will run low, so it will have a turn on the charger. I've never used the Oral-B flavor. I don't think a mechanical brush is going to be as effective as an eletronic style. (A motor moving the head vs electromagnets.) It is possible for an electric brush to be too harsh on your gums, so you do have to use them gently on the gums and then at an angle on the sides of your teeth. My hygienist said the brush should be held still, but I move mine around gently to ensure the bristles are touching all the surfaces. It does seem to help toughen up the gums so they don't bleed so easily when flossing.

Even though I got not so nice gifts from my husband,The kids spent way too much on me but I love it all. I got a set of tools, Kobalt ones at that. It has a hammer, multi- sized screw driver, pliers, tape measure and I don't know what all. I also got an indoor out door thermometer, I sure need that. Lots of the nice Christmas cards by Leanin' Tree that I like, I think about 5 boxes, a great big box with five pound packages of bird seed in them, a pair of black boots, two pair of black socks, a poinsettia pin, a set of 3 matching throw rugs, a sparkly purple blouse, another color purple cardigan type sparkly top, a horse calendar, some money, $20, a 3 piece mirror set for my big rig, and a Nikon camera! So the kids really went all out for me and I really like all they gave me. Now for what Norm gave me:( a five pound bag of Gold Medal flour (he thinks it is my favorite flower) and a two package set of ceramic stove top cleaner. Sue

Petra, the same thing happened to me. I went to the dentist semiannually and all was well. I begin to "age" and suddenly it's gum problems! Anyway, I chose an Oral B (I liked that the brush was "smaller") Professional 3000. I'm meticulous about brushing each tooth and crevice. When the timer goes off I'm not even halfway thru (not a problem, as the timer is just a "warning" and doesn't turn the brush off). I have four heads for my brush. I've distinguished them with fingernail polish "dots" and rotate using the so they have a chance to dry. I've had my current brush for 3 years; it replaced an older model. When this ones goes, it's highly likely I'll get another rotating model (probably Oral B, too). I also have a Waterpik Ultra Water Flosser (also 3 years old). This was my first water flosser and I love it. Besides doing my teeth, I also finish up like the dentist does...spraying between the lips and gums, and the top of the palate. It makes my mouth feel so clean. I continue to manually floss too. Finally, I rinse with a regular mouthwash, especially at night before I turn in. I still go to the dentist every 4 months for a cleaning. I almost look forward to learning my latest pocket numbers, hoping for a move in the right direction. A few have improved and I'm holding on others.

soap dispenser on quartzite?

Thank you all. I have nothing to indicate it is not a real quartzite. It’s only installed last Thursday. No real use since waiting for appliance install. From research the veining matches quartzite. Is there a way I can test on it? I think I’m going to do the dispenser and make sure to fully seal the hole. Honestly it’s all the horrors stories on Houzz that make me question everything. I had the dispenser on the granite that originally came with the house and never had issues. Plus if I saw water or soap drip page I cleaned it. I agree with Joseph and see the resting water and soap drips being so much worse than then the dispenser. Like sitting and building up undercover.

And you often can buy the sonicare toothbrush at places like Kohls or Sam's for a lot less than $90.
I am also a "user" Lol! And after the first 2 or 3 months, my hygenist asked me if I had bought one...she noticed a difference.

I love my Sonicare toothbrush. I used my first one for eight years before the battery quit charging. I hated to spend the money for a second one, but after using a regular toothbrush for a couple of weeks, I broke down and bought a second Sonicare. My teeth just didn't feel clean brushing with a manual toothbrush. Sonicare toothbrushes are definitely worth every cent they cost for keeping your gums and teeth in great condition. I bought my daughter a Sonicare through my dentist for $44 and am planning to get my brother one for Christmas this year. I've tried to persuade him to buy one, but since he hasn't, he'll get one as a gift. :)

I haven't tried sonic toothbrushes, but for those of you who want an awesome toothpaste that comes in tubs and you activate yourself, go to simpledefeat.com.
