Instead of a flower bud at the top of a mature rose cane, there is a growth that looks like empty wheat husks. This can occur with nearly all varieties but some roses are particularly prone to making blind shoots ie Peace. Frost damage, lack of nutrients, shortage of light and tiny midges are a few of the main reasons. If you cut the cane back to about half to a healthy bud it will produce a shoot which will flower.

We have the same issue too. 2nd story window. Had a moisture company come out and didn't detect any moisture on the outside. Had it resided with LP Smartside and installers saw nothing. My husband and I just ripped off the trim last night. I can't let my kid in this room anymore. We found one spot. Smack dab in the middle of the window between the two different panes. These are vinyl windows. The pictures actually look worse than in person. Could just this little bit make this big of an odor? Is this the install or the window. We just resided and wondering if they'll have to take the siding out and we'll have to redo that too. We're going to do whatever we need to do. Does anyone with experience think this is a flashing issue? A crack in the window. The water does weep out of the weep holes. It looks darker than it is because I did a bleach wash.

Back when I used to grow winter squash I would clean them up with a 5% bleach solution before storing them. If there was any type of invasive fungi/bacteria/microbes on the surface the cleaning could help extend the storage life. That being said the squash would still not last more than a couple of months before going bad so I switched to growing sweet potatoes which we like better for taste and longer term storage. On your before pics above there may be hints of sunscald which can also shorten their shelf life.

IMO, there could be 2 possibilities: 1. Certain end joints weren't fully engaged. 2. Manufacturer's defects, the end joints haven't been cut perfectly out of boxes. I would have my installer come back to investigate.
