What plants naturally have Omega-3 fatty acids?
Comments (9)I'll second Purslane (which is a weed in many parts of the country, though there are cultivated varieties available from European seed sources) Also check out Flax seeds. In fact, if I recall correctly (and I'll admit its been a while) many seeds contain Omega 3 oils, just not necessarily in as high quantities as the previously mentioned plants) ~Chills...See Moreomega3???
Comments (3)You can get omega 3 from certain oily fish e.g. salmon or certain seeds e.g. flax seeds (or flax oil or Udo's oil - I take a tablespoon of udo's oil every day and sprinkle sunflower and flax seeds in my cereal) I cut and paste this info from an article but there is lots of info out there on this subject, type it into a search engine and you fill find loadds of links: The chart below gives the amount of Omega-3 fatty acids youÂd expect to find in a fish. About 20% of the Omega-3 fatty acids in these fish will be EPA, so you need to get about 6g of Omega-3Âs to reach the Âprevention level. This is equivalent to eating 250g of mackerel a week. Fish (3.5oz, 100g, uncooked) Omega 3s (g) Mackerel, Atlantic 2.5 Herring, Atlantic 1.7 Tuna, Bluefin 1.2 Salmon, Coho 1.0 Turbot (flatfish) 0.9 Bass, striped 0.8 Trout, rainbow 0.7 Shrimp 0.5 Halibut, Pacific 0.4 Flounder*/Sole 0.2 *Analysis on cooked fish...See MoreHow do I take these fish oil pills w/o getting fish burps?
Comments (8)This is such a good question, because those burps are really gross. They don't bother me as much as they do my husband. They have almost made him sick before, so he's completely stopped taking them. Have you tried switching to a different brand? I was given some samples from a friend that worked for an eye doctor. They are also used to help people who suffer with chronic dry eyes. I'm sorry I can't remember the brand, but they didn't make me burp at all. DH still wouldn't try them, his experience was too bad with the first kind. So I don't know if it was just me or not. They were gels with the oil inside (like vitamin E). Sorry, this isn't much help....See MoreCanned Tuna- mercury, additives, omega-3 and labels
Comments (1)Thanks. I've read that the light tuna instead of the white has less mercury. Also the wild caught Alaskan salmon has less mercury. It's a sad state of affairs, isn't it?...See Moretrianglejohn
