My elderly mother recently had more of her colon removed because of colon cancer. Now she claims her food leaves her body in the same state it enters-undigested. As far as you know, could the removal of the additional length of colon be causing this? I was relunctant to talk to my mother's surgeon about this because I have communicated with him before about a different side effect.
Follow-Up Postings:

Don't be reluctant to talk to the doctor. He is getting a fee for the surgery and her care. That includes aftercare too. Advising you is part of his job. He needs to know about this. Perhaps he will suggest a special diet until the colon is completly healed.

If the doctor is the type that is hard to talk to, perhaps he has a nurse that would be helpful or least would be able to express your concerns to him. PB
