deep wound How Long?

I fell off my bike and hit real hard.I got a bad scrape on my knee.Treated myself for three weeks than went to the doctors.It's now two months and it's a little better.should I worry?Imust tell you I;m on medds for heart and high blood pressure and I'm 81years old.should I be I be seeking a new doctor?

New doctor, yes. Could be a broken bone the other doctor missed. This is quite common situation. My friend's son walked on a broken leg until his doctor finally sent him to a specialist.

Scrape isn't healing or great pain walking? Is wound infected? If you don't have much money go get some zinc diaper rash ointment & put on it a few days.(Unless it is pus filled)That healed my burn where all the skin came off to point it has faded out & I think by Christmas you won't be able to see where it was. I got Dr. Scheffield's for $1 at a Dollar store(made in U.S.) but any would work, I use it on my dad's foot as he rubs it on bed(I added piece of ridged foam to ease pressure on feet also) since he had stroke year ago. It hasn't broken open or gotten infected so it is working well for him also. Friend had leg wound that wouldn't heal & they did some kind of oxygen therapy & it healed fast after that. Another friend had to go to a pain center to get her painful leg healed. Don't use iodine on it, that will make the wound larger if you use it daily as it actually eats away at the flesh. My little brother was getting worse from a finger injury & dad didn't have money to take him to dr. so asked druggist & he told him methylate ?( cost 15cents & dad came back on payday & paid it-that's what druggist's did back then!) also orange stuff used many years ago, that healed it. Now the antibiotic creams are much gentler & safer. Zinc in diaper rash creams heals very sore little bottoms but works great for adults & you don't get allergic to an antibiotic that way either.

Hmm, now I think I'm a little confused. While I agree just adding mulch around my sunken bushes would be a lot easier, Mike indicated that it would probably encourage rooting of the buried sprouts and leave me with more than one bush in the hole. While several of my older (grafted) roses seem to have self-rooted themselves over the years with no ill-effect, they tended to do it some distance from the original roots whereas my problem plants are just 1-year old own-root babies (though it is hard to call Abe Darby a baby when he is waving his massive shoots around). Seeing as I'm in LA where keeping plants moist is more of a problem than drainage, I don't mind my roots being covered by quite a bit of mulch, but we're talking over a foot here! Of course after a week of rain and mist -- when moving would have been less fraught -- we're now having hot dry windy weather so I'll probably hold off a little bit in any case (in the event someone else wants to weigh in!) I am so grateful for this forum and the knowledgeable people willing to share their experience. Thanks to you all.

I doesn't look too bad but if it doesn't form a scab or new skin you might want to paint something on it to keep it from getting infected. Not sure what kind of paint- tar works for trees. They may sell some kind of sealant for people who prune different plants.

Lol, at the belly flop mental image! Ok, if I have to ask my DH or contractor to measure my armspan in relation to the kitchen project, they are really going to lose it, they already think I am crazy enough! I get it though, and its a totally practical concern. (Little Fishies, do you have irregularly long arms?!) My contractor did say he thinks they can frame it in to get it a bit less deep, the carpenter will know more. Justmake it, your window is beautiful. Your cabinets look great too. Are you going to have casing around the bump out? Are you putting uppers next to the bump out? I'm trying to decide how much room I need to leave next to where the bump out starts before I start a cabinet. I'm going to check that out on other posts showing these windows. I am surprised that I haven't heard from anybody about these. I agree and have been looking for something like this for a long time. These stakes are very similar (just not as wide) -- they also have a sock inside to prevent infiltration. Also, I just stick my 1/4" drip line in the slot at the top and it is held in. Easy peasy! I doubt these are worth $8.99 but for $3.50 each you can't beat it. Their web site has run a ROI on these and if I remember correctly, the pay back period is about 14-18 months. The savings come from more efficient and less use of water. FYI, monsoon season is here -- over the past few days of storms, we have gotten 1.37" of rain. We were so dry that the first storm (0.72" of rain), had NO runoff and completely soaked in. That .72 was in 90 minutes of downpour. For those back east, no snickering --- considering that my site gets about 7.5" of rain a year, that is a significant amount :) Hopefully see you in October at Desert Trip! P.

Goldy, a deep wound needs to be treated immediately, by an emergency room or Urgent Care. Going that long with a deep wound can cause infection or gangrene or possibly losing a part of your leg if left untreated.

PLEASE get to an ER right now!!!

Have they run other lab tests on you? Are you diabetic?

They have run so many test on me.THE FINAL ONE MY KIDNEYS are not up to par.doc says from taking high blood pressure pill for ten years.I'm a anemic been for years and my thyroid is out of whack.When your are as old as me you know parts break down and you got to live with them.Just don't want to go out with this dumb wound.Think I will get rid of my bike I think it's time I had both feet on the ground.

Oh, I am so glad you went and got a diagnosis. Yes, maybe stick to a stationary bike!
