Hi my name is taahirah I'm 47 years old and I am schedule for a partial hysterectomy Oct 18. I recently found out a few years ago I had fibroid but I use to bleed so bad years ago,but fibroid never came up. I relocated and I started getting all this pin in my back and abdominal area and then was told I had fibroid and my uterus is the size of a twelve week pregnancy. I'm tired of this pain and bleeding and I'm severe anemia. After few years they re getting larger.My doctor recommend this procedure years ago but I was so afraid to have it now reading everyone post I feel more comfortable with doing it. I never knew so many women suffered with this I'm so glad I found this site to have some support.

I have a fibroid that has enlarged somewhat(now 3cm) over the last few months. My dr has recommended a subtotal hysterectomy, where only my uterus will be removed. Only the cervix,and ovaries remain. Does that mean the fallopian tubes will be removed also? I am having difficulty emotionally, and am contemplating not having the surgery done because of all the information that is out there. I am 43, and have had infertility issues in the past. I have mild endometriosis on the outside of my uterus which never prevented my last two pregnancies, which I took fertility drugs for. I had one other pregnancy previous, no fertility problems ever, at the time was 19. Somewhere in my twenties I developed infertility problems. I am so emotional as to having this surgery done because of all the side effects. I am going for a second opinion before consulting with my dr again. Has anyone had a myomectomy done prior to having a subtotal/partial hysterectomy done? What about ablation? This has always been a an emotional journey for my husband and myself. We have gone thru a total of five pregnancies, and two of them were miscarriages. The last miscarriage almost killed me, and I hemorrhaged pretty bad. My dr says it was due to the enlarging fibroid. I know with my age it is getting harder and harder to conceive, but having a hysterectomy will definitely change everything. We are not sure about conceiving again, because of the most recent miscarriage, but we always wonder what if they (drs.) were wrong?? My dr seems to be pushing for a the subtotal hysterectomy instead of myomectomy. I am having second thoughts... very difficult choice to make.

I take Relpax and 2 nuproxin at the onset of a migraine on the recomendtion of my neurologst a headache specialist. Yes I went through much testing and it was well worth it. I had migraines that would last up to 6 weeks. I also take a daily preventative..Topamax, and 1000 mgs of magnesium (OTC, and an antidepressant Vivactil. E-mail me if you'd like I can send you the info he gave me. Some things that helped....Like Sandy said, I now never take anything for more than 3 days. Found I was rebounding rather than the original Migraine. I take the meds faster, many migrainers "Hord" meds, but the sooner you take them, the faster they work. If the meds you're taking don't seem to be working, then they're not, and you need something else. I've tried all the above mentioned plus more to find what would work for me. When the relpax stops working my next step is toradol injections, and not by the nice pen, but actual shots, and I don't know if I can do that. But if I have to I will. Also realize not all neurologist are good with migraines. I was seeing a nerologist and things just didn't "seem right" with what he was doing. He had me taking fiorinal daily. (remember the 3 day rule..yup, rebound headaches from the fiorinal were happening)..so I researched on my own, found this doctor that specialized in migraines, and what a difference. He right out said that the neurologist I was seeing was completely wrong in much of what he was doing, he removed me from all his meds, and we started a new regime. I had to see a occupational therapist, learn how to relax, I should see a speicalist in bio=feedback, but none are close to me. I had to see a psychologist just to make sure I didn't need more help there. Initially they were so bad he wanted to do botox, but after 3 months on the new regime, the botox was found not to be needed. The change in my life was amazing. I am getting them more freequently again (2-3 times a week and I don't know why) but they only last a few hours instead of days. I wish I was a person who a couple of advil and coke worked, but I'm not. I haven't had to go to the ER for over a year, so that is nice.\ Vickey-MN

Thank you everyone for sharing their ideas and comments....it really has given me thoughts to think about......as an update .....I was scheduled for a nerve block today so I spoke to my doctor about my fears. She was terrific. She explained why the specific things that I am afraid of might happen ...and I know she's telling me the exact reason because I researched it. She also told me that she is an "approved" doctor by the manufacturer of Botox ... Allergan....told me specific sites to look at....but she told me she understands my fears and it's totally up to me.....she will honor whatever I want.....she just wants me to feel better❤️ So today I had a bupivacaine nerve block ....injections into my forehead only, since she didn't want to overwhelm me, and because that is where my pain mostly always is, behind my eyes. There were little stabs, no big deal, and then some stinging with the anesthetic being injected.....not a big deal either compared with a migraine....in my opinion. My head already feels lighter!! It's amazing what it feels like to NOT have a headache....I don't think I know the feeling:). Each person responds differently to these nerve blocks regarding how long they last but I am thinking positively:).
