dirtslinger2, I have a man made natural pond that is at the deepest about 6 feet deep (should be at least 10 feet but has years of build up on the bottom) my water level can also drop considerably, but during the summer when we do not get much rain. I have many water lilies in my pond some I added last year some the year before. I would suggest that maybe you could either get a cheap water lily like the ones that you can get at walmart, lowes or home depot. By us these places usually sell water lilies for around $5. The year before last I bought a $5 walmart water lily and it is my favorite. Below I linked a thread from last year about them. Down toward the bottom somewhat you can read what I posted about these water lilies and I also posted a picture of mine. Anyhow if you get one of these you can always experiment without spending or wasting too much money. Another suggestion would be you could always put a water lily in a pot and if the water level drops too far you could move it out deeper, just for the winter. But if you are too do this I would suggest you should get a nice pair of boots for wading in water. I think we have used ours more for the pond than for fishing. I am not sure how deep mine are but I think I may have one that is around 3 or 4 feet deep. So you may be ok if you put one as shallow as possible, but deep enough so that it does not surface in the winter. bradley, Is your water lily in the sun? If it is in shade that may be why it is not blooming for you, most water lilies need sun in order to bloom. In fact the flower on my walmart water lily will close as soon as it is in the shade. I don't think it should hurt it to be 12 inches deep. I have had one bloom when it was around that deep. I do have one that has not bloomed for me yet. I bought it around the same time I got my first walmart lily. I got it from my local garden center. Last year it grew really well with lots of leaves but not one flower. It is right next to my walmart lily so it is not a sun problem. The only thing that I can think of is maybe it is too deep. Zero stars if possible. Time and time again this Lowe's in Hillsboro is the worst. I checked out the ad last night and saw 2/$10 2.5 qt plants for sale. Needed to go there to check something else out anyway. It's starts with asking for a shopping cart, and the lady in garden said, "You'll have to go to the front of the store!" What store doesn't have some carts in the garden section! Not flat carts, regular shopping carts. I should have walked out then, but being patient as I am, I went all the way to the front of the store and got a cart. Spent about 45 mins of my precious time to have the older but nice lady ring up the plants. Now none were marked, expect this one table 2/$10. When I went to check out, I tried to explain to her the issue, BUT NO she had to tell me how she WAS going to do it. Okay, make it harder on yourself. She rings up my ten plants and tells me the total, I explained and got on the app and showed her the ad. She proceed to say, after I said, "There's a sign 2/10" over there. She didn't even walk ten feet to check it out. Her comment was SO those signs were put there LAST WED. Okay, and how is this my fault? I tried to explain the AD again, and she said, "I can't give them to you if there aren't ringing up that price!" I was done trying to communicate with her and said, "Fine, I don't want any of them!" As I walked to my car, I decided to go talk with a manager. I was at customer service and asked for a manager. Okay, this whole time I'm calm and not yelling or being rude but boy, this Lowe's can push the right person to become that rude person. The guy behind the counter says, "Oh, he doesn't come in until later!" And then NOTHING! I said, "Are you telling me there is NO one in charge!" He said, "Oh, there's a lower level manager!" Again, Silence! Okay, so call him?? When Scott answers, the guy says, "Hi Scott, are you on break, or busy?" Never told him a customer wanted to speak to him. So the kid hangs up after Scott or Scotty says, "I'm in lumber filling an order!" I turned and walked out again. Before I drove off after being a witness to pure non-trained employees. Sure, times are rough right now-but this happens at this Lowes over and over! Got to blame management for lack of customer training. OR, lack of motivation for employees to find a solution? Scotty gets on the phone, nice guy, but what else can he say but sorry and thank you! Needless to say, this Lowe's loss over $50,000 on a kitchen remodel for these same reasons a couple of months ago. But hey, I was just getting plants this time, that were in an AD-what could go wrong. A waste of my time. Scotty offered no solution but to say he'll go to the Garden Department and find out what's going on. This is after I said, "I'm in the parking!" Then I said, "Well, I'm going to Home Depot. Guess what, I got more of the same plants for less money, in better pots than what I would have gotten or spent at Lowe's. I won! But next time, I'm hopping on the freeway and going to Tigard since I live in Beaverton. Thank goodness Home Depot is there! I have to blame management for lack of knowledge or training to their employees. Don't doubt that Lowe's managers train them NOT to call management. How come no one at Lowe's answers the phone, yet four people were standing around chatting in Customer Service??????? Not surprised about all the negative reviews at this Lowe's!

@maxima9 It is most likely an air pressure switch. That is what the clear tube going into the back of the control panel senses. As the water in the drum fills it creates air pressure in the tube. The other end of the tube goes into the drum and is usually connected to the center agitator which has holes in it. As the water fills the drum the water will fill the clear tube and increase the air pressure. This pressure change is then read by the computer in the control panel. Once the correct pressure is reached for a small, medium or large load then water inlet valve is turned off. It is most likely all computer controlled and not defeatable. I suppose you could cut the tube and insert an tee. Then attach a tube to the bottom of the tee and route it outside your washer somewhere convenient. Then put a gas tight valve on the end of the tube. When you want more water in the drum open the valve to allow air to enter the clear tube and keep the pressure inside the tube low. Once the water level is close to your liking, close the valve and the pressure will then build inside the tube and eventually reach the proper pressure to turn off the water. That procedure above would all be premised on their being no timer on the water fill valve. Many computer controlled valves don't rely JUST on the pressure switch, but rather amount of time the valve has been open as well. This is to prevent a flood. The fill valve has a max GPM rating that can't really be exceeded by increasing pressure. The manufacturer knows what this rating is and programs the computer to close the fill valve before the tub would theoretically overflow. This is usually a safety in case the pressure switch fails. Even if you COULD increase the water level there is no guarantee that the motor is strong enough to properly agitate. If they designed it for 6-10 gallons of water and you can fit 25-30 in it that would mean the motor has to work with 240 instead of around 80lbs, plus the weight of the clothes. You see to be an eco washer also means they can cheap out on parts as well. Smaller motor, less cost, etc. I would not "trash" the washer. Just sell it used on any of the normal online places. Someone will take it. Then don't make the same mistake again.

(and are switched!) I love switched outlets, but I wouldn't want them ALL to be switched. We have amazing recharging batteries these days, and lamps can't be such a huge power draw. Why do we even HAVE outlets anymore? You're right that lamps aren't a huge power draw; my husband, who is an engineer in the energy industry, says that only things that produce heat are real energy-hogs. Your TV, radio, lamp can run all day for pennies. However, I disagree with your conclusion. Batteries are great, but they're more trouble than things that're plugged into the wall. They do run out of juice (at the least convenient times) and they do have a lifespan (for example, my laptop will no longer run at all unless it's plugged into the wall -- the battery cannot hold a charge anymore, and a new battery costs $140). but once a room is furnished they are mostly ignored visually, anyway. Good point. Outlets at foot-level are easier to ignore than outlets at eye level. In reality, I suppose both spots have their uses. You probably haven't touched -- in years -- the outlet into which your bedside lamps are plugged, but you touch your kitchen outlets and the outlet where you recharge your phone daily.
