Ringworm of the eyes

I contracted what I am sure is ringworm of the eyes, 5 years ago from a street cat. I am finding it near impossible to get a doctor to diagnose and treat it - anitbiotics drops are of minimal assistance ( and yes my boyfriend got it off me at one point and had it tracking across his forehead). It is in my sinuses, and i have developed them on the backs of my hands from rubbing my eyes and sneezing. I get very stuffy through the night, and wake up cause I can't breathe. Fungal creams work on the lesions on my skin when it tracks to my under-eyelid area, but what can be used in eyes?

I would suspect you're having a hard time getting diagnosed with ringworm of the eyes because it doesn't exist. Unless you're really speaking of eyelids. Ringworm grows only on keratinized skin, which isn't in the eye. It also can't grow on sinus tissue which has mucus to protect it. If you have a fungal infection, it isn't ringworm; ringworm doesn't invade deep body cavities. There is no product that I'm aware of that can be safely used in the eye, at least no OTC products. A systemic antifungal would also be available only by perscription.
I would go to an ophthomologist about the eye problem and insist upon corneal scrapings and cytology/culture to find out what is really bugging you. Alternatively an ENT may help with the night-time stuffiness. You may have 2 unrelated problems going on.
Good luck. Sounds miserable and to be putting up with that for 5 years...

You might have more than one thing wrong. The eyes could be the what grandmothers used to call Pink Eye. Then you could have an allergy to something that is bothering both your eyes and your sinuses. sometimes allergies are hard to figure out. Antibiotics wouldn't help if it is an allergy

After you see an ophtomologist, check with an allergist.

i love basil and grow quite an assortment, but my favorite will remain genovese. can't beat the taste with fresh picked tomatoes and a little OO and cracked pepper, not to mention gravy and chicken and pasta and..... as for preserving it, although i will make oil throughout the summer months while the plants are abundant; i preserve it in salt. have a tight fitting container, layer it with kosher salt, then add a few leaves of basil but don't stack or overlap them, then a layer of salt, then basil and so on. make sure the container has a tight lid. you can store it in the frig and use as you need and although the leaves don't have that same texture right off the plant, the flavor is not compromised at all. the salt doesn't seem to take on the flavor, so i just use it as i go along in my cooking. i don't believe it has any taste dried, so i never bother with that method. i recently pulled a recipe off the internet for a basil jelly which i hope to can before the end of the season, when i normally harvest the abundance of mint and do the same. and i am very tempted to experiment with a basil ice cream recipe. maryanne

I was at two shelters today. The first was a municipal shelter that kills and sells to labs. They had a one year-old beagle girl, two big dogs, and two chocolate labs that were given up because "we're moving." I could imagine that with the bad economy we have here, someone may have lost their house and had to move to an apartment. Maybe a divorce split a family into two different apartments. But, in general, I think people give up their dogs too easily and do not try to find them good homes as they are obliged to do when they adopt them. The second shelter was a no-kill rescue shelter. They had taken over the job of providing a shelter to a large suburb, so also got the municipal pound to go with the job. I went to see a girl dog with a bad back leg. I was kind of hoping that her disability would prevent her from being a counter cruiser, but she was a very athletic dog, and she seemed to be fully able to jump onto the counters if she was inclined to do so. Worse, she was bigger and a jumper. She would be able to knock over my father-in-law, who lives with us. Not an option! He is a steady 90 year-old, but does not need a risk like that added to the house. On my way out the door, the worker finally had time to look over my application. I had written that I would like to be called if a small female dog came into the shelter. She asked if I had seen Amber, and I said no. I went back to see her and she is the cutest little thing! Red, long hair, 25 - 30 lbs. Face something like a Chow Chow, but much smaller. her body hair was longer and the black hairs mixed in in some areas made her look like mahogany. She is full-grown, calm, friendly, and sweet. She had not messed in her kennel. she looked and acted very promising. i put in an application for her, so once four days have passed, if her owners do not show up, we will be considered for her. All of my dogs have come from shelters. 40 years ago, we did have dogs that had litters of mutts. We did not know better. My mother thought that they all should have a litter before getting "fixed". I remember the puppies and kittens with fondness, but would have felt the same about dogs we had gotten other ways, too. Knowing that the dogs in that municipal shelter are in danger of death or experimentation does bother me. It is the county shelter, so I could band together with others to try to change the policy. The lady at the rescue shelter told me that the municipal shelter won't release dogs there to rescues. That is just inexcusable. Around here, pit bulls and pit mixes seem to take up about 25% of the available dogs. This is also a shame.

Sorry Sam doesn't feel well, but as long as he is eating and drinking fine and seems to be breathing normally it probably isn't an emergency. But I would take him to a different vet once you find out the answers to a couple of questions... 1) What type of rabies vaccine was given, and where was it given? Sam could be experiencing a vaccine reaction, and to avoid them in the future you need to know what to avoid (not all rabies vaccines are created equal). 2) What infection prompted the penicillin shot and does Sam need continued care? What should you be looking out for? 3) Where was the penicillin shot given? 4) Was it a routine neuter? 5) What was given for pain control (penicillin and rabies vaccine don't do anything for the pain associated with making 2 scrotal incisions and ripping out the testicles and tying them in a knot). I hope by now Sam is feeling better but those questions need to be answered. Certain rabies vaccines have been associated with cancer, and if Sam was given one of those types of vaccines then you need to know in order to keep a close eye on the vaccine area. Whatever prompted the vet to give a penicillin shot needs to be addressed as well, because if he had an infection you need to know what to watch for to make sure it gets better.

I think it's wrong for him to make such a drastic financial decision without your vote too. i think it's wrong for him to make such a life changing decision without you feeling comfortable with it. I think him being a clean freak and not putting his foot down on her disgusting habits is absolutely disrespectful towards you.. especially since you are the one cleaning it up. If he is the absolute love of your life and you think you can't live without him, then i would suggest (and maybe this is crazy) getting a house with a connected inlaw suite situation and putting her in it!Maybe then you can have "family time" when it is right for you. i know i will get criticized on that one.. ok it does sound crazy lol..but this child doesn't seem too concerned with anyone else, does she? Kids aren't stupid. They know what they're doing.If you can afford it, get her counseling and keep her busy with summer programs. In the long run, kids like a little discipline and order, whether they realize it or not. You've got to start all over with this girl and decide to make her new upbringing a project you both agree to or.. well.. RUN!!! The only reason i'm not starting my input out with "RUN!!!" is because i live with my boyfriend and he is the sweetest, warmest, kindest boyfriend ever. However, when his girls disrespect me he puts his foot down because he knows i'm taking on alot. They are over every other weekend and the only reason i am taking on this situation (not wanting kids AT ALL)is because he deserves my love and attention. He is all the things most women crave in a boyfriend and i love him dearly. We have a great relationship, so i put up with life being not what i planned on. Having said that, if we were to break up, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I WOULD DATE SOMEONE WHO HAD KIDS, unless they were adults and out of the house and normal and excessively kind to me. i stopped mid way through your story and said a prayer for you.. and i'm not even religious. If he can't make this situation easier for you, and you still want to see him, then do so, from the luxury of your own clean, dreamy place. If he can't compromise, let him clean up his own mess. We've got to stop supporting men who can't support the things we hold dear.

I'm curious to know if you have found out what it is exactly that you had contracted in your eye, because I have the same problem and I am at the point where my eyesight is now being effected as well as my breathing.. Also, I have these ringlets on the back of my throat, the insides of my cheeks, and then there are these ball-like looking thingies on the inside of my lips. I can't stand this anymore!!! Constantly feeling "something" crawling on me... I scratch and my nails get dirty so quickly and have now become brittle with a hardened "something" that comes from underneath them whenever I try to clean underneath. Please, I don't know who is reading this, if anyone is reading it at all... but I need help!!!! Doctors arent helping.... and all of their suggestive remedies don't do anything but waste my money and time ( and sanity ). I wnat this GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm crying right now, and my eyes are to the point where the film or whatever IT is wnt let the tears fall; instead it just makes these little bubbles that fill up then pop.... literally... Please.... someone tell me what to do when I've done everything that I honestly possibly can.....

Wondering if either of these people visited a foreign country or are around someone form 1. Possible parasite come to mind. Probably would need infectious disease DR. as they seem to be infecting various body parts. Some countries have small worms that infect the body. Needs to be checked out as could be something serious going on!
