Nicole, good idea. I just checked the Morgantown Craig's List (don't have one here). They are pretty sparse- school started back 2 weeks ago so there is not much to be had. i forgot to add, I have a nice old recliner but it is NOT helping my herniated disc. Need to find something that is more supportive.

I guess I don't understand. What happens when you just level soil in the beds with a rake? That is if I lay a box at an angle on a hillside and put soil in it I can level out that soil pretty easily and that soil will stay level even if the box isn't level. If I lay a tub of water at an angle on that same hillside the surface of the water will be level all by itself even though the tub isn't level. When I say "level" I mean that one side of the soil isn't higher than an other side. Yes you can't use the side of the box to tell you when the soil is level. Maybe you need a bubble level to help you do that. Yes if you have a sloping bed the low side will get all the water.

After I re-measured and found out that the mattress was actually 79" L and didn't see any point in contacting Sealy. The guy from MF was very nice and sympathetic and offered to replace it, but said the new one would likely be the same. He did give me a body pillow, that sort of works. So, it turns out that it's not ideal but I've found two, maybe three solutions. 1) Split the difference and leave 2" on each end (I'll try this when I change the sheets, 2) find a cover for the body pillow. Not very smooth looking, and it looks like I'll have to periodically punch it down, but it does prevent the pillows from falling into the abyss, and 3) cut the 4" wide foam rubber that I bought to make a 60" x 11" x 4" block that I'll have to find a way to cover. It'll have a smooth top, won't budge (see photo above). When I find my new quilt and the bed is made, no one will know and I'll be able to prop up pillows to read in bed without slipping into the bed crack! P.S. It's still a mystery why a 79" mattress placed on an 80" bed leaves such a wide gap. I guess there a some things we are just not meant to understand.

I love the adjustable part of mine. I have a sleep number bed and although I like that we can have different settings on it I don't find it to be as comfortable as our worn out mattress we had a couple of years ago. It is better now after I put a topper on it. I like a fairly hard bed so at times my sleep number is at the highest setting, but need some padding close to my body too. I'm a side sleeper in general, but the bed was incredibly helpful when I had an injured ankle and needed to elevate it at night. I also use it when watching TV or reading and since it has a timer that I can set to adjust it to automatically go flat I often fall asleep with it up, but it adjusts and I can continue to sleep as it adjusts as it does it slowly. It is also helpful to be able to raise my head just a little when my allergies are bad. I wake up with a less stuffy head that way and my kid gets to sleep in it when she has a cold to help elevate her head. She has a loft bed so we can't really do it on her bed. DH prefers sleeping in a recliner which is why we got it to start with. He still sleeps in the recliner because apparently I constantly wake him up when I move etc. He is a light sleeper. He did test it out though while I was traveling and thought it was ok, but he's used to the recliner now and one night isn't enough to get the settings right.
