scared for my son

Im sorry if I am not doing this right. But I will write it anyway. My son is 8 yrs old. He came from a rape but I decided to keep him so I don't know anything about his donor. He is on medication for adhd, pdd, and ocd. He has been on these meds for a long time so I thought he should be use to them by now. He is very skinny and tall for his age. But lately, he looks like he has dropped 7 to 10 pounds and I am not sure what from. He is active, but always is. But now he looks so skinny, I cry because he looks like he is dead walking. I know thats a bad way to put it, but I don't know how to describe it. His bones stick out so bad. He is not sleeping at all. I guess I am not sure what to do. I reported this to our family doctor but since he has been on the meds for over 2 years, they don't feel they need to change it. Any advice? I'm scared he is going to fade away and this town is so small, there's no other doctor offices with in 57 miles. He wears size 4-5 because he is so skinny and they are getting to big. If nothing else, plz just pray for him. I don't know where else to turn. Sorry if I did this wrong, but I was told I could post and it's my first time. Thankyou so much for reading. Stay blessed.

How is his MD monitoring his meds? Has he had a complete blood count lately? Can you request one? Can you demand one? Where is the nearest city to where you live? Can you contact the school nurse and see what she thinks if you are getting nowhere with your pediatrician? Can you bring him to your own MD? Can you find a web site with pediatricians who offer advice and e-mail them? Can you get him some Pediasure so you know he's getting nutrients? It's pretty yummy and full of vitamins for kids. Does he eat for you?

Could be 1 of the meds is reacting against him or he has a serious illness. Any normal Dr.would be looking for answers. Who is giving him the medications, a shrink or regular MD. Any medical personal should be very worried about him & doing blood tests to see if he has blood disease, malnutrition, colon problem where his food is not being absorbed,fact that he is not sleeping is not good. Is he in pain? Do you "remind him of where he came?(Very bad idea, it is not his fault in any way- bless you for having the courage to keep him) but he should not ever be reminded of what happened to you because it just hurts him & makes him feel it was his fault. Is a therapist bringing this stuff up? Fire them! He should be getting love & fun things in his life not reminders of 8 yrs ago. Have you had therapy to get through it? Are you still very sad about it & he is sad for you? If he were my boy I would show up at the family Dr. & say, Look at my boy! Do you really think this is normal? He's wearing size 4 which is what a 4 yr old child usually wears, he's 8 what is going on! I want answers! Feel free to print my letter off & wake up these medical people!! No way is this normal unless he had a huge growth spurt but that would not explain the "inability to sleep" He needs complete blood workup. Also does he get fruits & veggies as many kids are living on "Cup of noodles(loaded with salt) & junk from the potato chip, corn chip, cheesy curls etc. Pure junk. Is he pale? Does he have energy to ride a bike, does he play with other kids, is he glued to a video game(some kids think they are going to be killed because of them-I know 1) so him mind maybe upset from stuff he is watching. Get him checked out soon!

Just wanted to shout: "Eureka, they live and multiply"!!!! This, of course due to the many awesome tips, tricks and all that knowledge that lives in these pages of threads on this forum; all dispensed freely, mostly empirically tested and I am so grateful for it. I'm the proud owner of now 2 bins chock full of happy, sassy worms and will be adding a third bin tomorrow night, too lazy to do it now, lol. Hummersteve, I mostly followed the directions that came with the factory but added much more shredded paper and cardboard, a really cushy, deep layer. I save the mush from juicing, all eggshells, all other veggie scraps minus onions and garlic as well as most fruit scraps in a bin in the fridge and blend it with a little water when it looks like they need more food. I also grab a good handful of good dirt from my outdoor compost and add once a week or so in addition to misting every third day, so far so good. The worms live in my kitchen, no odor, no other (undesirable) bugs that I've noticed. Equinox, yes I do read the Sunday paper, now I have co-workers bringing me theirs on Mondays, so lots of nice bedding for the worm's pleasure for free and plenty of food, too. Yeah, I paid $ for the setup but it was worth it as it takes up little space, no mess, no fuss and it is a great conversation starter, too and I get to sort people out in the process...the squeamish either are too horrified to want to know me better or they embrace the experience and widen their horizons just a little, lol. I'll take some photos this weekend to show the progress thus far and again, thank you to all here and especially all of you who took the time to respond!

oh, definitely--have the son put a freeze on his credit w/ the credit unions, in case dad tries to take out a loan or credit card. (is it possible that dad doesn't realize the son will not get his refund bcs of this? Maybe dad thought the only party affected would be the U.S. govt? And so dad didn't think he was actually stealing from his own kid?) And help your son figure out what he'd need to prove that he is not his dad's dependent: -rent receipts and utility bills from the entire year, to prove that he paid for his own roof -ATM-card records to show that he bought groceries often from a grocery store near his home, to prove that he paid for his own food -pay stubs, other work documentation to prove that he was occupied full-time and therefore not a student If he doesn't have any of these things, he can substitute letters (notarized!) from the appropriate people--landlord, boss, roommate. "Junior was a full-/part-time employee who worked X hours a week, from Start Date to December 31, 2006"--especially if he doesn't have pay stubs w/ hours worked, etc. Also to prove he wasn't a student. Have him put it in a folder, and label it, etc., and find a place to keep it so that he'll find it when he needs it. (I keep all receipts, etc., from every tax return in a folder w/ the return itself--just in case) Another thing perhaps, to help w/ the immediate crisis, is for someone who could be a go-between (paternal uncle? paternal grandma? you?) to call the dad and tell him he needs to give his son some money to make up for the fact that he has stolen his kid's tax refund. I know you're using the term "adult" lightly, and in this situation, you *should* use it lightly. Things like this are hard for kids to learn while they're still "kids" and being taught by their parents. This sort of grownup-finances stuff is why parents' work isn't done just because a kid turns 18. This could be a good lesson for him in how to prepare documentation for court, in how to keep records of finances, etc. (all the best lessons hurt, unfort.) I wonder if your son could take him to small-claims court for the amount of the refund? print out the reply from the IRS, ask his brother to testify to the conversation? The ideal would be if he could get his hands on his dad's tax return; I don't think you can subpoena documentation for small-claims court.

I personally think that a lot of the vendors producing these washers, including the "high end" ones, may have service issues. In this day and age, we all take a gamble when purchasing these products and hope that the respective company will faithfully support their offerings. We have an LG Steamwasher. We like our a quite a bit. At first, my wife didn't like the fact that the Sanitary wash took so long. She used the Sanitary wash for everything. She's used to not having so many options with a washer. I informed her that you don't need to use the Sanitary option for all the washes. Now, she uses a combo of the Sanitary, Speed and Cotton washes. She REALLY like the Speed wash when appropriate. With knowledge gained from this forum, I understood that there could be service issues if my washer needed to be serviced. Something I understood and appreciated when we purchased the product. Getting burned on the original Maytag "Neptune" fiasco, I learned the hard way that company reputations are not what they were 20 years ago. Too bad. To the OP, understand this. On the net, you will rarely see as many positive posts about a product than negative. People come on these forums to post questions about their machines. Some come in to complain about their service. With Internet forums like these, I wonder sometimes, of the total sales of a product, how many are satisfied and how many are not? Sometimes, the net is a good thing...sometimes not. I'll tell you one thing about this forum - it has a WEALTH of info and more positive posts that I have seen on other forums. "It's not 'Buyer beware'....it's 'buyer BE AWARE!' :)

A few thoughts: - We wanted a black curb and pony wall top but could not find anyone to do it for a reasonable cost. Black on its own is available in 6" widths at Floor & Decor type stores, but not with matching vanity, and that was too wide for our curb and wall. We gave up in the end and did the vanity and curb/top separately in white marble-look quartz and actual marble, respectively. If you are doing multiple bathrooms, though (I think you are?) you can work with a fabricator for that and use materials for multiple baths, so I would try to coordinate the vanity/curb materials (if not the surrounding aesthetic). - I would do a neutral colored vanity with popping red accents rather than a red vanity. Less to change later and I think you could get a lot of red in there with knobs, accents, wall color, etc. without committing full-on to a custom red vanity. - At GC and tiler's rec, did not tile the front of the pony wall--but we also didn't wrap the tile onto the wall, and it makes sense to if you are going to do that. It you have a good tilesetter, he/she should be able to miter cut the edges to wrap the corner cleanly, and I'd personally prefer that look. Depending on the tile you choose, they may also make trim pieces designed for outside corners. I like your tile, but it's going to make for a very dark room. I actually really like the variegated blue tile in your rendering--I wonder if you could find something like that to introduce a little variation? If not, I would only take the blue partway up the wall and would then switch to a lighter color from that tile line to go the rest of the way to the ceiling in the shower. -Niche on the tall side wall or else on the shower head wall.

I totally believe our intestinal health has a lot to do with our outward health. Between lacking certain nutrients along with medication can wreak havoc on a body causing all sorts of malabsorption issues. I would eliminate all processed foods and do a whole foods diet only. I would also try eliminating major allergens for awhile. You could probably find a holistic nutritionist who could help get you started by either e-mail or phone. I would be lost without mine. There are also plenty of books on the subject and a wealth of information on the internet on leaky gut and food sensitivities. I just read a great book called What's Eating Your Child and found it very simple and informative. It touches on food sensitivities, missing minerals and vitamins from the diet, etc.
