A1C Test

I was at the doctor yesterday for a physical. She looked at the bloodwork I had done in April. She told me that my A1C level was at 6.1, which means I'm at risk for diabetes.

This threw me for a loop. I never paid serious attention to this part of my bloodwork since it was usually in the normal range, and the doctor never discussed it with me until yesterday.

She took another blood sample, and we'll see what happens then.

She also gave me a glucose monitor, which I'll start using. My glucose range is usually in the 90s, which I believe is normal.

I'm very confused now since this is the first time in my life (I'm 57) that diabetes is part of my vocabulary.
